Kinetix intake installed!!!

My secret mod is the Kinetix intake whch I got today. Took under two hours to install. Pictures do NOT do it justice. Its very hard to take a good pic since its soooooo shiney. It sounds incredible. Low rumble and the upper rpms are simply intoxicating. The down side is that you will probably get speeding tickets with this just listening to the sound. I have a reflashed ECU, so I get full advantage of the upper end power. Traction control is mandatory, even with my big 265 width tires. There is no low end loss, and the car pulls strong to 7100. The idle seems a bit funky. It seems like its needing to settle in a bit.

The million dollar question: Is it worth the $900 or so? I say yes!! People are spending that on cat-back exhausts, on headers, or to just polish their stock manifold.

This thing is truly a work of art and it makes the car a real beast. So yes, its worth it. Check out the pics:

Looks sweet. That along with my polished intake(AEM) would make my engine look sick.

And yes! Dyno time.

If you had headers you could have the highest HP in a NA 6th Gen.

I thought the company who made those were having problem proving real gains for the money, I've seen that manifold tested before and what I read from the feedback, the numbers didn't justify the cost. Unless they fixed something because it's been almost 2 years since I've seen it so maybe they tweaked it to perform better! That's why I haven't pursued it. Overall, looks sick freaky HOT!!!

A larger MAF housing would do him better than a UDP.

How would I do that? I'm running the one piece AEM CAI with the MAF housing built right in.

I wouldn't mind having this mod. I guess I just haven't taken the time to order it and get it in. That's about what, 5hp?

Ahh, I see. So then, more work would be required. Unless you're willing to get rid of that intake, I'd leave it alone.

looks awesome Deus! does the engine cover fit back on it?

I'm guessing the overall size is pretty much the same? looks like you still got some room under the STB...

waiting for some video/audio clips

It definitely looks nice, but unless anything has changed from the last version, I'll remain skeptical about the gains until there is good dyno evidence to prove otherwise.

Deus, when I ported and polished my manifold, I also had the engine cover trimmed back to show it better before I had it custom painted, maybe you should do the same???

Looks great; but now it really makes the tinfoil insulation on your intake look like it belongs on a rusted out 62 Beetle. Fix that up and the engine bay will really look clean. Gotta get some red in there to go with the new color scheme.

Thank you for the nice comments!!It looks great in person. I tried to put the cover on but it wont fit. It needs trimming. Im up for suggestions on the engine cover as well as ways to spruce up the engine compartment.

The gains are supposed to be 14 hp. The engine feels much more responsive and the power is MUCH stronger up top. The raised redline sure helps. The idle problems went away after i disconnected the battery for 30 min. It seems to run much better. I ought to tune it with a safc, but I lack knowledge in this area. Need to do some homework first.

The intake fit right in with no mods at all. Extremly easy install. Removing the intake was tough as the rear bolts by the firewall are hard to get to. Ill draft another post specifying install procedures that will become a sticky.

I am guessing my horsepower is at 310 at the crank - cattman catback, y-pipe, UDP, reflashed ECU, plus intake and intake manifold.

I understand that the intake was redesigned to make it much more effective. The car has a much improved sound. Ill get clips this weekend probably. When headers go on, the sound will be even more intoxicating than it is now.

Any suggestions on fixing up the engine bay would be appreciated.

I would like to see some before and after runs if possible. I know the debate has raged on for a long time over whether or not this actually produces usable power especially for the money. I think I've looked at over 100 pages of debate. I almost bought one, but couldn't justify the price for the inconclusive results.
