Which year should I buy guys ? Please help
Difference b/w VIN # starting 4rm 1 or J? Which One Should I buy?
Also, Help me guys. I am in a delima to buy a car. I have put down a small deposit of $200 on a 05 SE charcoal grey fully loaded leather, heated seats and all. It has 30K miles. I am buying it for 17K. I now see a ( link below ) a BASIC 06 Maxima with only 6100 Miles. for 21K. I do not mnd paying extra $4K, but is it worth it or should I stick with the 05. ?
Also, if there will be no power options on the basic Maxima i.e. folding mirror's, leather seats and heated steering, Can I put them later ? Would there be an issue ? As we can always buy parts at great prices from www.car-parts.com. Would the connections for the folding mirrors and heated seats will already be placed or not ? Help me please !

What did I miss here?
I am confused as to how the VIN # country of origin enters into the comparison between an '05 and an '06 Maxima.
ALL '04, '05, '06 and '07 Maximas were made in Smyrna, TN. Every last one of them. The last Maxima to be made in Japan was a 5th generation '03.
The only part of the VIN that may be pertinent in this case would be the last six digits. With the 6th gen Maxima, Nissan usually starts each model year with a serial of 800000, which enables us to have a rough idea from the VIN serial as to when during the model year a particular car was built. Of course it is easier to look at the silver metal plate inside the driver's door jamb, where the month of construction is posted.
I must have missed the question, which seems to have been edited, removing the original meaning of the post.

The 05. Leather. Better resale value and the wow factor. Don't try to retrofit stuff on the 06. 2 computers control the car and their programs may not properly support the modified wiring.
Then check www.nissanhelp.com for the TSB's (technical bulletins) for the model. Stuff like pitted chrome on the roof or buzzing sound from front exhaust are all covered until 36K or 3 years. The car may not be affected by any TSB's but go through the list, verify VIN and do visual checks. 6000 miles is quickly gone.

I personally would go for the '05', instead of trying to retrofit the goodies onto an '06'.
I have an '05' SL and love it. It's a great car. And that is a phenominal price for a loaded '05'. Now go get your car. And welcome to the 6th gen family.

I have owned both an 05 and now an 06. Go with the 05. It's cheaper and there really isn't much difference. If the 06 is more basic then it won't have things added that year like the Bluetooth, etc. Even with all those differences, it still does not add up to $4000 worth. Stick with the 05. All the goodies = much more fun. My wife loves the heated seats and the Bose, power mirrors and power pass. seat are all great amneties. You didn't say whether the 06 was SE or SL, but I would go with SE. The SL is for old people and isn't as sporty...ha!
And I didn't understand all that hullaballoo about the VIN either. It really doesn't make much of a difference. Buy what you like most.
