Please advise ? As my passenger side strut is making the notorious clunking sound. Will the dealer cover it ? I do have power train warranty uptil 100K. Not sure if it will be covered or not ? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

nope...but ask the dealership, just to make sure

just get KYB f/r struts/shocks for <$300, when a single OEM strut costs about $150 lol

Drivetrain warranty will not cover struts. Sounds like you bought it from a dealer. See if they'll fix it, or give you a discount on repair.

I didn't buy it from the dealer, but on carfax I do see a work done on suspension not too long ago. I am going to ask the dealer if they replaced the strut on that repair order or not. If they did, then it should be under warranty. Thank you guys for your input much appreciated. And yes at the end, most likely I will go with the KYB's.

What kind of noise is this? I have a noise when I go over speed bumps, just slightly. Is that it?

Yep, thats the sound. From the passenger side strut. Not sure if its the strut it self or the mounting bracket that goes on the top. Probably some body here can shed some light on it ? As its a very very common problem.

Hi guys, im new here. I just picked up a 2004 SE with 30,000 miles on it. Now I am also noticing this clunking sound from the front passenger side tire. Does this sound about right for these struts to be going? From what I have read here it sounds like it might be going already, sheesh what crappy struts to be shot after 30k miles. Guess I will have to look into replacing with the aftermarket KYB struts that alot of people seem to be raving about on the boards.

I've read about all the strut problems and I was thinking my front passenger might be going because I was getting a mild clunk on some bumps. However, I took the wheel off and was looking around down there and noticed that the big rubber/plastic boot that covers the strut was loose at the very top near the upper mount. I was able to position it in such a way that it is tight now and haven't had the clunk since then.

Anyway, maybe this is an easy check for some people to do, but I have no doubt most people have a real strut issue.
