350Z rear brake conversion - INSTALLED!!!
* and to debunk a, for the most part, rumor any car that has EBD does not have a proportioning valve so there is no brake bias. The ABS computer has the ability to learn and adjust front/rear braking power up to a certain unspecified amount. Engaging ABS after doing any kind of brake upgrade will teach the computer new values.

Drew, to be clear, is the rumor that EBD cars have a proportioning valve?
I understood that EBD worked by sensing lowered ride height as an indication of extra weight in the rear, and applied more braking force to the rear brakes. At least that seemed to be the case in this thread
http://forums.maxima.org/advanced-su...s-melting.html
So, if the ABS was triggered after the lowering springs were installed, the EBD system and ABS would relearn when to trigger, and store that info via the ABS control? Does the ABS need multiple triggers (to reset front and rear, or even all 4 corners) to relearn?
I was considering lowering springs and/or a brake upgrade, but that thread scared me off since it seemed that on any change of either, there would have to be significant thought to match to original bias, but if the system relearns, then that would clear the path for nearly any cost effective upgrade.
Thanks for any info.

The rumor is that if you were to do this swap or any kind of brake upgrade it would effect your brake balance. The car has no ability to sense ride height so you can lower it however you wish without concern for how it will affect the brakes.
When the car was new it came with preset values for braking force sent to each wheel. I don't know how many instances where ABS is engaged it takes for the car to learn changes but it's safe to say it takes a little while.

I was just about to look into it but I'm glad you got it figured out. I knew it had to be something goofy. As I've said before just make sure you get/have the correct matching (2006+) rotors. This is also a great time to do a brake line upgrade.
