Ipod what?
Ipod what?
I looked around and couldn't really find reliable info in one place. Would someone mind explaining (or linking) how the IPOD wiring harness works (where you run it to your glovebox). Will it display track information on the display screen? Will the radio preset select button on the steering wheel change tracks? Does the AUX button still act as the source button. What if you have another Ipod plugged into your console 1/8 inch....which one takes priority? Has anyone actually used one on an 07 w/ bose? Respect.
There is a thread about this that, after some 13 pages, offers no real information. I too have wanted to get an Ipod, but there are various products that claim to be able to enable track selection via the steering wheel and SAT button on the BOSE system. However, I remember reading that this was only for later model radios (on the 04) after a certain VIN number, and that my VIN is before that number, which means I would have to replace the stock radio with another stock radio. The PAC-SWI I believe works (on the later radio).
It would be nice if someone would actually consolidate the audio information so someone doesn't have to sift through 23529 pages of useless information (perhaps this is done already?) I have also wanted to hook a sub up to the stock Bose system, but the thread on that has conflicting information as well (some say it can be done, others say it can't, some say you have to splice wires, others talk about pre-outs)...this makes actual factual data impossible to find!

ipod
I bought my ipod adapter from icarkits.com. Part # PA11-NIS. I believe i paid $159.00. It was easy to connect. I have an 04 max. I copied the following from the website....hope it helps....
How it Works
The PA11-NIS connects directly into the satellite radio port on the back the factory Nissan Maxima 2004 stereo. By connecting directly to the radio, this adapter is able to provide the digital quality music from your iPod that you are looking for.
In addition to the CD Quality Sound, this iPod car adapter allows you to control the iPod from the factory radio and steering wheel controls. The track buttons on the radio and steering wheel can be used to move to the Next / Previous Songs on the iPod. This allows for easier playlist / album navigation, and a safer driving experience. The stereo volume and bass / treble controls will still be able to control the music as well. The iPod scroll wheel and all of it's controls will all continue to function normally.
The PA11-NIS also powers and charges the iPod while in use so you will never have to worry about charging your iPod before using it in the car. This adapter works with any iPod that has a standard iPod plug on the bottom. Installation
The PA11-NIS is designed specifically for the stereo system in the 2004 Nissan Maxima and comes with everything you need. The adapter plugs directly into the back of the radio, and sits in the open space behind the radio. From the adapter, a single cable runs to wherever you would like to have the iPod.
Once connected, the iPod is accessed by pressing the CD button twice. You can install the adapter yourself, or take it to any local car stereo shop / dealership to have installed. If the vehicle has satellite radio, it will need to be disconnected.
The PA11-NIS adapter also has a universal RCA input on it which can be used for any audio signal. Any MP3 or audio device can be connected to this adapter in addition to the iPod.
