How to replace an HID bulb
I didnt find a clear enough thread on how to change an HID bulb. So, I am making my own. I changed my drivers side bulb. It is a D2 bulb that I got from the stealership for about $160.
1. Wash your hands really really well in dish soap. This gets the oils off your hands so incase you accidentally touch the bulb, minimal oils get on the bulb which can cause premature burning out.
2. Take your air filter off.
3. Remove the two bolts that hold the light in. This gives you a little more wiggle room that you will desperately need. The third bolt remains in and hidden behind the bumper. If you love to remove your bumper, you may do so now and then you take the light assembly out. Its not necessary.
Pic of the two bolts:

4. Grab the large gray cover directly behind the headlight and turn it til it pops out. Slide it out of the way.

5. Remove the connector to the bulb. Its black with wires coming out of it.

6. Now look for the spring wire that holds the bulb in place. You have to push down and move it out of the way. One is on one side, the other on the other side. The bulb should slid out of the casing.

7. Be VERY VERY careful when handling the HID. DO NOT touch the glass part. If you have rubber gloves, use them. Otherwise hold it by the plastic base. You have been warned. Slide the bulb in and twist til it locks in place. I used the old bulb to see what position the bulb should be in.
8. Now the tough part. Replace the connector on the bulb. TEST THE LIGHT by turning on the headlights to see that it lights. If it doesnt, you didnt push the connector on hard enough OR the bulb is bad. Now pull the headlight forward as much as you dare. Get that cover around the connector. Its hard to do. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but it can be done.
9. Push cover in place. make sure rubber O ring is seated squarely.
10. Install air filter assembly.

Is this the same procedure for an 07 Max?
I have the stock HID and wanted to change the bulb to a 6000K for a brighter white look... do you think 6000K is good or should I select a different rating bulb?
also, has anyone added HID to the 07 Fog lights? I was wondering where is the best place to attach the Ballaster in the Fog area.....
Thanks
Eddie
