Nope, you're right. Stock bulbs should be 4300K, going to 6000K gives you white with a faint blue tint. 8000K gives you white with a strong blue tint, while 10000K and above gives you a pink/violet tint.

The higher the temp rating, the lower the light output. They came 4300K from the factory for a reason.

True, infact I can't see at night most of the time without the fog lights. The HIDs are pretty to look at though.

Which lights are brighter - 4,300k or 8,000k?

Seems like 6k is a popular choice for a happy medium.

Yes, I have 6000K and I'm very pleased with them. 8000K is too blue IMO and it imparts an artificial tint to everything. I like the 'true-color' effect of 6000K.

For better visibility 4300k, and for even more go 3000K. People use them in there fogs, I have a pair sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Its a yellowish color, Like the ones you see in the lexus.

Get the 5000k if possible. I was running with Philips Ultionons 6000k 3-4 months ago and i lost like 20% of the light output that a had with the stock ones - 4300k...

A word of caution, at least 6 members (to my knowledge) on different Org's have had headlight housing sealing problems after HID conversions, their headlights as a result started condensating on the inside with some making almost 1/2 a cup of water INSIDE the light housing, OUCH!!!

I personally find 5000K to be the best but yeah between 6000 & 4300, 4300 wins

Thank god my maxie came with stock HIDs. I bought HID 5000K conversion kit for my fogs months ago but have no time to do the install, this sucks. I am sure the combo will look great.

I got some 6000K and they are great. I put in drivers side only to compare them, and they are bluer than stock, and see to have a bit better visibility to me. The stocker is slightly yellower. Clear difference when seeing them side by side. Ill try to get pics tomorrow and see if the camera can pick up the difference. and it was half the cost of the stealership.

Plug and Play baby. ITS THAT EASY. Now getting to the housing is another story but so many have already done it that you should have no problem. Look it up in the stickies, there is a write up about it by PRJCTMAX

Here are pics taken toward the car. The first pic is with flash to minimize brightness. You can plainly see the bluer light on the right. The second pic is without flash.

Theone on the right is 6000K light and the one on the left is OEM 4300K.

Nice, thanks DuesExMaxima. Would it be possible to get a shot looking out of the car onto the road in front? I'm also interested in the visibility these two bulbs give.

Thanks!
