07 Shift Assembly Problem

Well, it seems I have been experiencing some itermitten problems shifting from P to R to D...
I would have the break peddle pressed all the way down and can't shift out of P, I had to insert the key into the shift lock release, then when I'm in R samething, then when I'm in Drive I could shift to N but not to R or P... Happen 2-3 times about 3mos ago. I took it to the dealership but just my luck they weren't able to duplicate the problem...it was working fine then...

At first I thought it had something to do with my add-on alarm system, but then it started again, so I quickly drove it to the dealership to show them first hand, the service guy notice the problem right away, and stated that its the "Shifter Assembly". I left my car there, don't care how long it takes to fix, just get it fix...They didn't have the part in stock so they had to order it. It should arrive tomorrow...

This sucks; I had the car for less than a year now.....not good....

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

What would cause this failure to happen?

Eddie - I have no idea what may have caused this, but don't remember seeing this problem on the ORG before, especially with an '07. Intermittent problems are easily the worst to get fixed. I will be very interested in knowing if the shifter assembly replacement eliminates the problem.

Please let us know what happens.

I will definately let you know the outcome... I just got a call this morning that my car is ready for pickup. I will find out more details when I pick it up and will provide my feedback.

Thanks,

Finally got my ride back just a few mins ago... They definately replaced the Shift Assembly, Service rep said they don't know why it went bad, this is the first they had to replace in an 07....

I'm just glad it was identified and replaced....now back to enjoy driving...
