http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...+coated+wheels

These are mostly 350Z wheels but on page 4 and probably further, there are the almost identical wheels to ours powder-coated in black with a red lip.

So, is this okay to do? I know I've read somwhere on the Net that powdercoating aluminum wheels was not good.

To all that are powder coating, could you please post pics when you are done. This is a VERY viable option for me. As silly as it seems, I really really like my stock rims. I would just like to add some flare/pizzaz.

FastMax, this was a great suggestion. Thank you for the idea.

Swee

hahah ya i have tried them too... but they didnt look right... maybe its cause they are too small for my car... a black rim w/ polished lip ALWAYS looks smaller than they are... my 18's look like 16's hahaha... but i dont want to go above 18's for performance reaasons

I think powdercoating is a viable lesser expensive option for rims. I too like the stock rims but 1. they are waaaay to heavy for my use, and 2. they dont clear my 300zx tt calipers without spacers.

Swee: There are lots of really nice rims out there!!! What rims did you try that you didnt like. Depending on your budget you can really dress up your nice ride with aftermarket rims. I am extremely pleased with my black rims with red lip. I also loved my bronze rims too. Decide what kind of look you want and then make it happen.

Too much sidewall, too little rim. These were the Konig Sideways, IIRC.

I really like the Unknown's, but I have a friend with a white 6th and he put those on. So much for doing that. His car looks great too:

Justin,

When I shipped your stock SE 18 OEM's the lightest box was 31.7 lbs. The heaviest box was 34.5lbs. This was according to the FEDEX scale.
Keep in mind the boxes are big and the packing materials to protect the wheels inside the big box.
I'm sure the packing material plus the box adds about 2 pounds or more.

So I estimate the stock SE 18's to be between 29-30lbs each.

I heard the stockers were around 28lbs each which is quite heavy. Mine are around 18-19 lbs.

Swee: Any other rims meet your fancy? When I looked for rims, I looked at other cars like the 350z/G35 with same color to see what looked good. In fact, the reason Icame across my black rims with red lip was I was looknig for rims for my sons red car and thought those would look good on it. Then I said . . .hmmmmmm . . . they would look good on MY car. The rest is history.

I really like the mesh with gunmetal color. Whether or not they'd look good on a white car?! That remains to be seen. I've not good at selecting rims. I usually have to see them on.
