Cattman needs SoCal 04+ Max for test fit
We (Cattman Performance) are redesigning an element of our catback exhaust for the 04-07 Maxima and need to put a Maxima up on the rack for an hour or two (probably just once, but possibly twice) at a shop in the Westminster/Huntington Beach area of OC. The first occasion would simply be a measurement session (the vehicle must have a stock catback). If second visit was necesary, it would be to test-fit the part; nothing would be altered on the vehicle.
Ideally, we'd find someone who intends to upgrade their exhaust so we can offer a significant discount as compensaton for helping us during the development process.
I'll just add that it would be especially useful if this car was a 6-speed because we're also getting a y-pipe version for the 6M ready and could probably use a car to check fitment on.
Thanks in advance!

Just to be clear, this is a minor redesign of our existing 6th gen catback system; its just something that requires some hands-on measurements to do accurately.
Y-pipe for 04+ 5-auto Maximas comes out this coming week, and we've started pushing development of the 6M/4A/CVT version to get it out of the way so serious work can begin on the header sets - the most challenging part of the larger project.
My objective is to at least have the manifold development work completed by the end of 2007. That may seem like a long time, but I anticipate a particularly challenging process due to the difficulty of installation and the challenge of solving the O2 sensor/CEL problems that the HS headers caused on 05 and later Max and Altima applications.

I live in Anaheim and would be happy to drive out as I currently have stock exhaust. I am an auto though, and i see you're looking for manual. Just an option, and good luck.

Yep, we'll be doing the measurements at the same place. You have the magnaflow muffler add-ons, with the stock catback going back to them, right?
Thanks for offering, I'll make a decision as the week goes on. Still hoping to find a 6M version with a stock exhaust so I can kill two birds with one stone, but we'll see what turns up.

Thanks a lot for offering. For my immediate purposes, the stock catback is the most important requirement. We'll give this a day or two and see if a 6M pops up. I'll follow up with you and whomever else is available, and figure out who can do this with the least inconvenience.

Your question is directly related to the purpose of this thread. Our original 04+ catback design, like all of our exhausts, takes a somewhat "purist" approach to design, and it's all flanges and no clamps. However, Nissan does use clamps where the mufflers attach, so the mufflers in our catback bolt on flange-to-flange and Nissan's don't. Since all of the aftermarket "muffler only" parts for the 04+ Max are made to clamp to the stock catback, they don't work with our flange-to-flange design.
Our design is fundamentally better - flanges are always better than clamps - but it works against us in two ways. It adds to the cost, not a lot, but enough to put us over $800 for the part. It also prevents our mufflers from being sold by themselves (unless we re-design the rear section) and it doesn't allow the rest of the catback to be sold by itself (if someone wants to use other mufflers).
I went to the Remus site, and don't see an application for the 04+ Maxima, but I'd like to know more about it if there is one. If you're talking about a universal muffler, you would need to have the rear section and hangers fabricated in a manner that is identical to the stock mufflers.
