SOLD our 2005 maxima today
The only local Nissan dealer here is also going out of business, that makes 2 dealers in the last 6 months to go out of business in this area. Now there is no dealer support for 40-60 mile raduis. The only problemsI had with the max,was I had to rust spots the in both rear door wells(dealer fixed under warrenty)and the white smoke issue on accelration.Anyway this has been a very informative website, thanks to all.coobie

Why is this happening? I thought Nissan sales have gone up in US over the last few years. I see Nissan vehicles everywhere around here in FL near Orlando. Does Nissan sales vary too much from place to place?

I guess so, there are 6 Nissan dealers within about 20 minutes from my house.

It would be interesting to know if Nissan has a similar strategy to what Toyota is doing, limit the amount of dealers so that when times slow down neighboring dealers are not fighting for sales, reason why Ford dealers seem to be dropping off or consolidating, 1 of the major Ford dealers in my area that completely renovated suddenly disappeared overnight and is now the home of a Nissan

As many of you noticed , nissan dealships are all remodeling/ rebuilding if ...
My local dealers have ne building, and the old building are dedicated for used car sales....
Most nissan dealers now have new state of the art buildings. And all the building look pritty similar in styling and etc....
Basicly nissan is trying to keep a good image, and some of the dealer ships/service area were outdated.
What happens is nissan tells the owner of the dealer ship to remodel and etc , or close up( and then the owner does collect some large cash )
Chevy is also doing the same thing from what Ive noticed. along with many other car companies.
