LOL c'mon guys I'm not hatin', and I wouldn't take anything from the SL, they are definitely nice rides. I actually drove a friends '07 SL and was pleasantly surprised. Honestly, there aren't a lot of differences but I like to give peeps $hit with SL's is all. If I had one, I'd give guys with the SE's $hit lol.

Base SE with the cloth seats and with almost no luxury features is not worth buying. Its better to buy a base Altima SE 3.5 V6 and add 18" wheels to it. Thats even lighter than a base Maxima SE and also lower priced.
Fully loaded SE is heavier than fully loaded SL. Base SE is heavier than base SL. Can you please elaborate on how or when SE is lighter than SL?

I dunno but with the stock wheels, SE's are heavier than the SL's. BTW, why is the weight without the wheels important? Do you drive without the wheels?
I think without the wheels the weights will be the same or very very close because fully loaded SE and SL are almost the same except a few minor differences (like wooden trim, etc.) that doesn't make much difference to the weight. The difference in weight is due to the wheels. I had to make this weight a big deal because some people here (like Mack, etc.) are making a big deal out of 1" difference in the wheel diameter. My point is that you guys with SE have gained a 1" in wheel diameter but also gained 12 lbs in weight, so nothing to party about. In Mack's language, I am just giving guys with the SE's $hit because I own a SL lol.
Its time we do away with the misconception that SL's are for old people and SE's for young. It might be interesting to note just as an example that Mack (SE) is 37 and I (SL) am 29, and there are many more such examples. There is absolutely NO correspondence between age of a person and wheel size of his car.

BB you have a great point. I just use age as a harassment tactic LOL. Bottom line is they really aren't very different but we know the SL is the "luxury" model with more comfy ride and woodgrain interior effects, wheras the SE is the "sport" edition with more modern brushed interior and larger tires for looks and handling etc. Both great cars in their own right just boils down to personal pref is all. Personally, my SE is loaded to the max (no pun intended) heated steering wheel, retracting mirrors, heated seats etc but it doesn't ride quite as nice as the SL, but then it wouldn't with my performance oriented setup. I think we can all agree that the Maxima is an awesome car however.
I totally agree with you. Also, whatever I said was in a humorous way, not like
I was in a dilemma whether to purchase the SL or SE. I really liked the bigger wheels of SE. But as far as I can remember, the Vehicle Dynamic Control + full-size spare was not being offered in the 07'SE. That is not the case with 08'SE though. Since I wanted the VDC, I went for SL. Also, I like luxury more than sporty. I am a laidback person
Does any of you with the 07'SE have VDC+full-size spare?

I'm not sure if my rear view mirrors retract. They sure look like they do, but when I tap on them they don't budge. I think they retract, but the previous owner has never done it, so it might be stuck somewhat. Don't want to break it, so I leave it alone. Can someone tell what the retractable 1 looks like, or better yet a picture. (Talking about the manual folding mirrors.)
I do not have VDC, or traction control. Didn't even know about VDC at the time. Actually I assumed traction control was standard. I heard 2005 it was standard. Wish I had both.

Well I'm sure they fold in, I have the automatic ones and they just fold in with the click of a switch ahaha..It would be pretty stupid if they didn't fold in manually..whats all this about sl vs se..its still a 4dr sedan that weighs like 4000 lbs..its a LUXARY sedan ahaha.

a "Luxary" lol sedan in my eyes is a m35/m45 ???
just my .02

lol, there might be some correlation of older people and additional weight gain tho....

Ha, I'm not here to fight or anything..But if you think a m35/m45 is a luxury sedan, then I would say an m5/335i/g35 sedan are sports sedans..The max is like right between, it doesn't really have an identity..ahha
