Tested new Cattman Y-pipe
Hi Everyone,
I went to Tucson to see Brian Catts today and tested his Y-pipe with the new lined flexes. Good news, there is no more whoosh or hiss, woohoo... I noticed that there is a different sound than stock, the new Y-pipe has a more deeper sound. Another good thing is the metal grinding noise from my car is GONE, so the noise was indeed from the heat shield. As for power, I am sure there is an increase, but i haven't felt it yet. I have to do more driving to find out.
For replacement, I think Brian posted up something about it. So if you are thinking about ordering, go ahead..

Not hijacking the thread, but wondering if removing the stock resonator and putting a round pipe from the cat all the way back to the rear y pipe makes a sound and hp diff. Seems that the rear mufflers are plenty to keep it quiet, but the center muffler is redundant. Im thinking a muffler shop could straight pipe it pretty cheap and see how it runs with the stock mufflers. Anybody done this?

XBONE... I had my resonator cut off from the cat back and still have stock mufflers. There is a little deeper sound that you can hear. Not sure if any hp gains although I am sure there is a couple.. FYI my friend did this as well but put on Greddy muf and y-pipe w/o cat. He had to put in a small resonator back in because it was too loud.

I don't have any dyno result, but I drove around again today, i do feel there is more power in all rpm. It's easier to spin tires.

Oh my car is lowered with Progress Springs.

Sorry Ramberg, I don't have any picture right now. I will try to get one if I go under my car again. The install was done at a Nissan dealership and it was so quick that I forgot to take pictures. I ended up just chatting with Brian.

why not just buy nissanworks spacer kit... its been tested and APPROVED! with hp gains close to or past that...

There is a big difference between the FWD and RWD VQ35DE. The two spacer's function is completely different. The RWD spacers will not work on the FWD VQ35.
