Folding Rear View Mirrors
Folding Rear View Mirrors
Do all 2004 Maximas come with auto folding rear view mirrors, OR manual folding mirrors? Manual says optional to have folding mirrors even manual. Mine look like they fold, but they don't seem to move, and I don't wan't to break it.
I swear I just saw this question somewhere
there is no such thing as "auto folding rear view mirror" but auto dimming, yes.
now SIDE view mirrors (viewing sides/blind spots) have the power option. I believe it comes in a package, but there will be a button to the left of the steering wheel. Even those fold manually.

I have a 2005 SL with the drivers preferred package. This package includes power fold in/out side mirrors among other features.

Ok. Mine do manually fold just tryed it. You really have to push on it. Just wanted to be sure, and not break it. Manual confused me saying it was optional to manually fold them, and they all have it you say. The drivers side makes a sound when I turn it (like its never been folded in before), and the passengers side turns quietly.
man, I dont know about manually folding our electric ones, sure with enough force you can do it, but you are turning the gears and the motor thats inside the mirror. when you where a kid didnt your parent tell you never to push that electric toy car with your hands
I agree. I talked with my brother who is an electrical engineer, and he says that a couple of relays and some wiring is all that is necessary to get the mirrors to close when the key is turned off, and vice versa.
Good idea. But then you would have to make sure the mirrors have clearance every time you start and stop the car. For example, you pull into a parking space and fold the mirrors, then a car pulls very close and fills the space the mirror needs when it opens again. If the mirrors are going to open when the car starts you can't avoid contact.

I live in NY on Long Island where 98% of drivers are terrible and i work in Queens where 99.5% of drivers suck also so yeah the mirrors get folded in EVERY time the car gets parked. Auto folding upon turning the car off would be ideal.
If we were to mod the mirrors setup, could we go a step further and see if the new Altima mirrors with the blinker light built in would fit on the Max. It looks as though the attachment point is the same. I think it would be cool to have the lights flash as the mirrors are automatically folding when you hit the LOCK button on the key fob.
i have never folded ANY mirrors on ANY of my cars... dont really see the point unless you are in a VERY small garage etc...
kamski i love ya man but even teh drivethrough for food? LOL
EDIT: i guess if i lived in NYC i would do it... +1 on 99.5 % of ppl driving like F'ing idiots...
