I agree... go through insurance. Despite the tiny rise. Its worth it. if you dont use it, then whats the point of the monthly payments brother?

Just find a shop that is an authorized to repair Nissan Vehicles so they will replace whatever is damaged w/ OEM.

Good Luck.... Sorry about the bad news.

LOL, yes I am seriously posting that police have no duty/jurisdicition to enforce traffic laws in a private parking lot. Here in Connecticut my experience has been that they may file an accident report if you really press the issue. Now the police could try and issue tickets but if you fight it chances are you will win.

Anyways, this is a great website and i'll try my best not to step on anyones toes.

enforcing traffic laws and having jurisdiction is different.

aight guys. here's the update:

Dealership said max discount they can give is 20 % off on the following parts

1) Front Bumper
2) Grille
3) Emblem
4) Radiator
5) A/C Condenser

Parts Total: 1575 $ CAD incl. Taxes (With 20 % off)
Labor/Paint/Materials: 700 $ (Thats the lowest the body shop will go)

Final: Approx. 2200 $

Anyway, the body shop is suggesting to go through insurance because they're saying, they'll fix everything for 2200 $ but after 2-3 weeks, if i experience problems in my engine and end up frying it, then they are not responsible whereas if i go through insurance, they will put on the file that there is the possibility of the head gasket going hence cover me in the future too. As the deductible is 1000 $, I'll have to pay 1000 $ which i can and the rest is covered by the insurance.

My insurance company is State Farm. I'm not sure how I'm rated with them but this is what i pay monthly 254 $ CAD at the moment and previously i was paying 310 $ per month. I spoke to my Insurance Agent and he said, I'll be considered "At Fault" because the other two parties left the scene and I don't have their details and he said my insurance premiums will go up and they might go up to as much as 100 $ ahh - this sucks. but yes the body shop said if i go through insurance, it'll ensure 100 % quality work as everything will be taken care of now here's my questions:

1) Say the estimate is roughly 3000-4000 $, howmuch would my insurance premium go up and yes I am the secondary driver as the insurance and the car is under my dad's name?

2) Does State Farm cover tow truck charges? I'm pretty sure I have the reciept.

3) Am I able to get a Rental Car as I have no other car at the moment - I'm 22 by the way, dad's out of town - would they still provide me with the rental?

4) Since I'll have an "At Fault" Accident on record, would that affect me negatively in any manner - It'll be the first accident on record by the way.

5) Also, If insurance premiums do go up, would they ever come down? If so, when?

6) Say if i do go through insurance, my rims are damaged a little due to curbs, am i able to get them fixed or not?

Thanks for the replies in advance, guys.

Holy high prices bat man..$254 a month for insurance? no, seriously thats probably about right considering you're only 22 with an '07. Mind you, im 34 and i pay $78 a month for 250 ded. Rental,towing,300k comp and colision coverage and 100k personal injury w/state farm. So you have a ways to go before youll get rates like that. And the moving voilations are'nt helping either. My answers to your questions, 1. Im unsure how much your insurance will go up but you are considered at fault when you rear end someone, 2. Yes they will reimburse you for the towing expense, just keep the reciept, 3. State farm does provide rental as long as thats part of your policy, 5. Your premium will go down a bit at 25 and more at 30. And if you get married it'll go down more, 6. Your rims wont be covered unless they were damaged because of the accident. Good luck with everything bro.

We can't answer these questions as they depend on your policy. I know someone who can, however! Your insurance agent...

List of Probablies:

They probably cover the tow. Your premiums will go back down in the future. At fault will only affect your insurance, nothing else. Your premium could go up any amount - or it could stay the same. It really depends. We can't help you with these questions, it all depends on your coverage, your particular set of laws and such.

Xoom...Im in illinois. Dont know if the fact that ive been with them since i was 19 has anything to do with it. I do get the multi line discount because my moms car is in my name on the same policy. But even without her car on the policy it would still only be $96 a month. Still not bad.

Your engine is not going to fry, you stopped right away, after all remember the engine you have in the car is an award winning engine on reliability.

AND DUDE

You really need to sit down with your dad and talk

what is the worst he can do? Lecture you and be mad, but dude he's your dad, I would hope he cares about you. And I don't think he'll take the car away, because then you would be without a ride and you'll be a burden on them.

These things happen thats why they are called accidents.

I pay 50 a month, 21 yo no accidents no tickets, but I have a 2000 but I also told my insurance company I have 15K in mods so they cover it if I am ever in an accident

Honestly, thanks a lot guys for all the suggestions and advice. It just sucks i don't live in the United States - otherwise I would have been a part of the group meets etc. We all should setup a Toronto Meet sometime. It'd be amazing - I've always wanted to go to meets, sucks that not many 6th gens are active around my area except Kam.

Anyways, Here's an update so far:

1) Just found out that the "Fan Shroud" is broken too and the front support (i don't know what you call it - it's right under the grill, that's dented as well).

2) I decided to go through Insurance. Called my Insurance agent, told him what happened. He made a loss report and State Farm called me and confirmed the details. According to them, they have to send out someone to the body shop to do a full estimate which could take 48 Hrs + which to me is stupid.

3) State Farm has provided me with a rental. I initially got a Mazda 6 which to me was a nice car. As my everyday and only car is the 07 Maxima, I'm so used to it that driving anything else gives me a weird feeling. As it was the first car i drove after i got my license and have been driving - sitting in any other car is a joke lol. Now I'm pretty much adaptable to almost anything in life but when i found out State Farm will only cover a Compact car and not pay for the Mazda 6 - I had to make a switch to Pontiac G5. Since i go to university everyday, that's about 100 Km back and forth, i decided to go with the G5 to save on gas. Now what do i tell you about this car - I've sat in worser cars then this and felt more comfortable. Ok, the drive is alright - I don't mind it but OMG - Yesterday, I parked my car at Uni and was going to class when i realized that the car wasn't locked :S so i kept turning the key in the key fob only to realize this car does not have a Central Locking System :| and lol i found it funny to manually lock every door - i mean c'mon,we're in 2007 !!! That sums it up for the rental car lol

4) Since i decided to go through Insurance, the body shop has done their job and ordered all the parts and their already in. They are just waiting on the Insurance Adjuster which i don't know why he/she's taking so long :@ I hope i can have my car back by tomorrow.

So far, I think that's all i have for you guys. Oh, I got some pictures, let me upload them right now.

Thanks for the replies in advance, guys.

See below in respect to your numbers

1) It would go up maybe 20-30 bucks Nothing crazy. I been in 2 accidents with geico and it went up 43 bucks all together

2) You would need to check if you have that coverage

3) See number 2 for answer

4) Yes it will but nothing to worry about. I have one at fault also. Dends also on speed, traffic density, weather, etc.

5) Yes it will go down eventally. I think it depends on the insurance company though. Ask your insurance company in about 6 months.

6) Yes it shouldnt be a problem. But you will nedd to tell them where you got the rims. i first wreck completely destroyed 2 rims and insurance replaced those 2.

errr..... no secret,

A) how old are you?
B) what year of car?
C) does it have theft deterrent alarm?
D) whats your driver star rating? I'm 6+
E) go over every little detail in your policy with a rep and have then explain to you why you are paying more (HERE IS WHY)

I had a 2 hour conversation with my rep, everything was savy, $500 deductable and all.. then we get to the car, and she starts asking me this and that..... and then says, well if you get a car alarm you save an extra 5%....

I was like WTF the car has an alarm, and a it has the nissan paskey system, where it needs the chip in the key to turn on...

That little bit above saved me an extra 5% on insurance, not much but hey $5 here and $5 there adds up. Also no matter what you work close to home. Thats all, the final number (under 20km) is up to you. 3% right there, fluke for me cause i live close to work

Anywhoo good luck, but fully review your policy with your agent, word by word, they will make sense of it all.

Ohh and with direct protect, 911 personell get 40% off anyways

ontario laws.. (or what they told me).... no discounts for what safety features/alarms/deterrents come original with the car itself... (told them abt the passkey, etching (those useless stickers), etc....).... and they told me," the increased $ amt is based on the car rating not on my mine ... i am 6 * whcih is supposed to be top!)

ins co's have found out that a 6th gen max is too expensive to repair even with a 15km/h hit!!

but i'll try again... maybe i'll get someone nice:!!
