You can get some great grill material here. Heck I may get some of the woven wire mesh and spruce up my AT S4.1. http://www.customcargrills.com/index.asp

BTW, that "minor" hood mod is starting to look pretty in-depth.

You know I think we have the same thought. My 4.1's mesh is all wavey and my brothers mesh on his RLM grill is 100% straight I mean its curved to confirm to the grill but the mesh on my AT grill looks all dented and stuff.

I just ordered a sample pack from them. We'll see.

Bumper Swap

This Audi Grille approach looks really good. How low should I take down the hood extension mod?

I sorry but I am a little confused with the whole term of a hood extension? Is the hood short of metting the bumber? It says in the descriptions that the hood over laps the bumber, wouldnt that mean that the hood sticks out to much and would need to be cut back? why would you need to extend it? sorry for the confusion and would appreachite it if someone could help clear this up for me.

F.Y.I! HOOD EXTENDING IS JUST A CUSTOMIZE OPTION, NOT REQUIRED OR NECESSARY FOR THIS BUMPER SWAP TO FIT/LINE-UP.

Ok! I'll try to make this more intelligible for anyone that might be perplexed. The 05 Maxima hood lines up very well onto the 07 Maxima Front bumper.
"Overlap" in measurement terms, means one object extends over another. That overlap area could be anywhere from 1/4, 5/16, or even 3/8 of an Inch.
In our case, meaning a 2004-2006 Maxima owner, will notice a very small section that overlaps along the bottom edge of the hood, by each Headlight. I've taking detailed pics, to show accurate measurements of the minor overlap section, it's barely noticable because the overlap doesn't exceed over 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. Hood Extension is'nt anything new either, your basically extending the edge of the hood that's around the Headlights & Grill to give it more of an aggressive/symmetrical appearance. Sort of like Blue Bats Headlight overlays, but instead of vinyl strips, you use Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass or just thin welded Sheet metal Strips. On my hood I've extended the section that runs along the top area of our grilles, due to the fact that there's a section where the manufacture cut out purposely a portion of the hood, so that the awesome designed 2004-2006 grille would fit . Well, on some aftermarket grilles & O.E.M grilles there's a noticable little gap or space in between the hood & Grill. That's where the term hood extension come into play, just balancing the lines of the hood better, so that it's more symmetrical & aggressive looking.

F.Y.I! HOOD EXTENDING IS JUST A CUSTOMIZE OPTION, NOT REQUIRED OR NECESSARY FOR THIS BUMPER SWAP TO FIT/LINE-UP.

so the 04-06 grilles will not work but will an 07 grile work??

[QUOTE=The Presence;6071579]It's a local Shop here in town called StarTech, I'll retrieve the companys number for you tomorrow. Below are just a few pics of the hood extension project started today. Tonight, I really have to decide on how much lower to extend the hood. So, that I can finish it up for painting this weekend.

Damn that is fire... that will be so tight.. We needed the front of the Max to start looking a little more fuller....

I haven't had cornering lights in a year, due to the fact that my 2005 front bumper was custom molded. The bulbs were removed, an everything was wrapped up really well, including all the wiring. All tuck really nice along the frame under- neath. Awaiting for my Angel Eyes or Halo P9000 fog lights, if your considering on using the 2004-2006 fog light assembly. It could work as well, with some very minor modifications, in order for it to fit & function properly. Where you interested in active fogs or regular turn signal indicators like you currently obtain. Oh! An O.E.M & Aftermarket grilles from Maxima models 2004-2006 will not work on the 07 Front Bumper. But O.E.M & Aftermarket grilles designed for the 07 Maxima models, line-up/fit with no problem. My hood extension is done, just finishing up all the remaining prep work tonight, the paint shop is exspecting me tomorrow morining. I'm also fabricating a bumper lip as well, going over all the minor details tonight. Add the lip shouldn't take long @ all, weekend project. When its all complete it should look like the 2nd amateur pic below:

Hey thank soo much for the thorough explanation of that. As for the questions i kinda like the cornering lights and wanted to see how complicated it would be to keep it on the 6.5 bumper but if its too much i'll stick with another pair of foglights. As for your halo idea that sounds pretty neat ima look into that right now!

Fitting your 2004-2006 fogs or cornering lights, shouldn't be very difficult @ all. If the hole happens to be 1 inch larger, boring that out takes like, 2 mins the most just to shave a circular cicumference. Try it, before purchasing new fogs.

I think the halos would give the car a more edgy look.. I get so damn tired of people asking me when I'm gonna get my other "fog" fixed cuz its burnt out!! So I think I will just get regular fogs and have 2 sets... Cool with me.... Did ya'll know there was some Halo Headlights... That would look tight to have a whole set of Halos for the front light setup....

Thanks! When the project is complete, I promise to post many pics. The hood extension turn out really well, an I'm still waiting for the O.E.M 07 Maxima Grille. Once I receive that item, it will be bored out, fiberglassed, and reconstructed as a activetuning like grille, for the 07 front bumper models. Basically, all I really need is the outer frame of the grille, an everything else is a peace cake. Thanks again, for your appreciation of the concept appearance, that I'm trying to acheive here.

Guys & Gals! Thanks for your honest opinions re: The Hood Extension/Bumper Swap Project. The Price to complete everything problably set me back around $300.00. An that includes: $130 for the bumper + shipping, the bumper was slighty damage, so I receive a great deal on Ebay. I always purchase the best paint & supplies myself, that cost was $138, fiberglass & bodyfiller, I always keep stock in the garage @ home, cost for those supplies if you don't already have them. Around $60 to $80 bucks. D.Y.I Bodywork is "FREE", Bodyshop own by friend, so shooting the paint was "FREE", because he didn't have to do the time consuming prep work. I would have painted it myself, but it's time for a "New" Air Compressor @ the house.

Precense, quick question, how hard do you think it is to do the opposite, put a 6th gen bumper into a 6.5?,

It lines up perfectly, wouldn't be complicated @ all.
Honestly, it lines up exact, ever screw, tab, an clip.
That interesting, a 2004-2006 front bumper on a 2007 Max.
When are you considering this modification, very soon?

But WHY would u want to do that? Most like the traditional nose of the 07/08 Maxs over the 04-06. What do you have up your sleeve for the 04-06 nose? A NICE lower lip?

Hey Presence, it looks like there is a small gap between the bumper and the bottom of the headlight assembly. Is it really there or is it just the camera angle? But on to the compliments....probably the tightest mod that ive seen to date. Hotness bro!!
