Even if they could, they wouldn't be able to tell if your were driving it on the street or at the track. I think the computer holds onto the last few minutes of data, like after a crash to help determine speed and braking etc. But what the dealer says is BS.

dude, he's jokin - only if you get involved in a crash can the computer state the important data like "what speed you were driving at when you crashed"

do whatever the hell you want, nobody cares - it's your car. you can even street race it not that i'm suggesting you to do so but what i mean is the only people to stop you are cops legally that is.

Enjoy your ride but be safe

As per warranty, majority of done enough modifications to our car.

yeah if its anything like gm, which it might not be, it would record the last set amount of seconds before the crash, kinda like seeing what led up to it. other than that, you should be safe.

Yea thats bs the one thing they could do is if you blow the motor by redlining when racing the ECU stores soft codes of everything and the dealer wold be able to see what RPM you were at at the time the motor failed. ( kid over on VW formus blew his headgasket street racing took it to the dealer for warrenty work and the found the soft code that the head gasket let go at 7000 rms) Hit him with a 4000$ bill to fix it)

If you buy a Nissan CAI, that shouldn't void the warranty especially since it is designed for Nissan!

Bolt on mods do not void warrantys. Its illegal. Ive saw a huge write up on this awhile back. The only way a CAI can void your warranty is if it sucks up water and you hydro lock your engine... I could see the stealership not fixing it for you then, but if you have any other issues they cant use a CAI to void your warranty.

we have a "Black Box" that records your speed and driving style.

Sooooo if you're car "breaks" at the track, or racing condition, they will see you were driving extra aggressively and can deny your warranty.

How long of a record that it keeps? not sure if anyone knows for sure. It at least keeps your recent actions.

People have been convicted with the black box already proving their statements false in accidents.

yeah I called my stealership about a year ago about the Nismo CAI and they basically gave me the same BS and made up a story about how a guy in his 350Z shorted out his MAF because of it. After I hung up I called hte 1-800-Nissan number and they told me that the warranty wont be void unless it can be proven that the CAI caused the malfunction.
