Are the corner lights fog lights?

Are the corner lights fog lights?
I tried a friend's 2004 SE today and the fogs would not get on. Even when turning the little ring on the lights switch, they would not light up. They would only flash when turning left or right.

Is that normal? Are they actually fogs that you can turn on using that ring?
Are they supposed to flash when you put the flasher on?

What light does what exactly? There are like 3 lights on the main housing + fogs. Info plz

Thanks

Main housing=main beam, then FOG-LIGHT next to it (the inner bulb) then the turn-signal/hazards lights up top.

The cornering light is on the BOTTOM of the bumper by the sides of it.

With the lights on, and when you put your turn-signals on, the cornering light will light up FULL on the side that the blinker is on.

Oh ok so the corner lights are not actually lights or fogs, just a corner yellow light.

I though they were the fogs :$

So um, what kind of bulbs are the actual fogs ? Are they strong enough? Are they worth replacing for HID?

Also, what color are the STOCK nissan xenon? 4300K? 5000k?

Stock HIDs are 4300

Fogs are H3 and do not replace them with cheap bulbs because they will burn out quickly (2 sets within 3 weeks for me)

Here are my head-lights (stock HID lights with 3,000 HID fogs and switch-back turn-signals)

like dan ^^^ said above, stocks are 4300 and yes the fogs are worth upgrading to HIDs. You can upgrade your cornering lights with LEDs and turn signal with LED switch backs.

Is there anything we could replace the bulb with to make it not only look nice but also have good visibility?

hmmm get Amber LED's since that would be closest to yellow and yellow always has the best visibility.

Not sure how people would like "orange" though...lol

About your friends fog lights. If the headlights are on and the fog lights still wont turn on when you turn the ring, then as you probably guessed it, they're burnt. I replaced mine with the PIAA plasma ion( Same as prjctmax i believe) they look cool and actually function better in bad weather.

Speaking of that though, my passenger side foglight lens has some kind of haze on it. wtf is that? can it be cleaned? I called the dealer and they gave me the crap about the unit being sealed and they said they would replace it for like $400(no labor). anyway, any fix to that???

Fogs notoriously die on our cars. Mine were out when I got the car.

I think this thread answers its own question. I thought they were fogs when I first looked at the car too, turning lights are kinda silly IMO. And yes, leave the fogs stock, i wasted money on more expensive bulbs a few times till I realized the car is whats burning out the lights in one month, not the bulbs being bad.

Why do fogs keep burning?

How do you change them to hid? You need a full kit w ballasts, etc?

FROM WHAT IVE SEEN, I DONT BELIEVE THE BULBS USED FOR OUR FOGS IN OUR MAXIMAS COME IN AN ACTUAL H.I.D. CONSTRUCTION. BUT I KNOW THEIR SOLD, FOR EXAMPLE BY PIAA, IN HALOGEN FORM WHICH REALLY SIMULATE THE H.I.D. OUTPUT.

Im fairly confident in saying that the reason you guys are having such bad luck with fog bulbs is installation error. When I installed my PIAA's (over a year ago) It was a tight area to work in. The bulb seemed to go right into place the first time but I noticed the pattern was a little off. The H3 bulbs have the three notches that need to seat just right or they vibrate, get moisture, etc... Thats why they're blowing. It's not "the car." Take a little more time and you'll see what I mean. I know there are others who havent had any problems here... Surely my car isnt the lucky one.

nice theory but this is not what is happening. Mine was seated correctly and everything, it happened over and over and over. Perhaps all cars are not affected, as with most issues.
