Climate Control Problem - When I turn "inside air" on, the A/C turns on

Ever since I bought my 04 maxima a half a year ago, there has always been a problem. When I turn on the inside air, the A/C turns on. If I turn the A/C off, it automatically switches to outside air. Its like it wont let me turn the inside air on without having the A/C on... Anyone else have this problem?

It's not a problem...it's just how it is and has to be.

Think about it, it's kind of common sense that you would only need the inside circulating air just to have a/c and outside just for yeah, outside

I would have demanded an owners manual!!! And if you got one, demanded you read it!!!

oh ok, thats weird i have never had another car that does that.. I know that it is common sense, but during the winter months I would like to have the option to turn the inside air on when I get behind a smoke spewing truck, or when i am passing a area that has a lot of cows (coalinga on I-5) without having the A/C turning on.

works in the 07'..

Not sure if the same will work for yours but in my 07', if I select the mode button and then press up on the fan speed I'm able to do this without using A/C and keeping the outside air closed. Sometimes the A/C will come on but Im able to turn it off and still keep the outside vents closed. If my memory serves me right, this is how it works for me... the key is to use the mode button first.. Hope this helps..
