Looking for new plastic engine cover
I was painting the engine bay plastics and got the 2 side pieces as well as the fuse box cover done perfectly, but I messed up on the engine cover and cleaning it off is very tough because the plastic itself is textured as you may know. The texture makes it nearly impossible to evenly sand or wipe off with de-natured alcohol/ laquer thinner. I want it perfect, so I'm looking for a new one to start with. I have posted in the 6th gen. classifieds to see if anyone has one, but I thought I'd ask if there are any parts websites that carry the engine cover? Any input is helpful, thanks in advance.

pretty cheap at the dealer. part number is on the back. i did mine by sanding w/1000 grit first the using duplicolor, after first coat dried i used 1500 grit sanded again, another coat then laquer enamel sanding with 1500 between coats

Nevermind, I just did like 4 coats of paint to make it as even as possible
Unless you have a fluorescent light and magnifying glass it looks good. I still have to paint the "V6 3.5" part chrome to match the nissan burger symbol though...I'm wondering if there is a Nismo badge of the same size with the same clip inserts as the stock nissan logo to replace with? Anyone know? I'd prefer to have NISMO stare me in the face when I pop the hood instead of NISSAN.

I used white (glossy, not satin) Krylon Fusion spray paint. It was recommended by a few others on here. I'll take pics in another week when I can get my hands on a digi-camera, and I also have to finish painting the "V6 3.5" part...I have to find chrome paint for those letters and numbers still and then make sure everything dries properly before I can say I'm done and take photos.

ecks, i used gloss black(1613) engine enamel. be sure to use their adhesive promoter. a few coats w/sanding and their clear enamel overcoat and you'll be fine. the engine paint is good up to 500 degrees and i have yet to have any problems. hope this helps and good modding.

awesome.. I did my engine bay already but I want to redo the scheme and incorporate some textured finish to the plastic. I need to google how that will handle high heat. Regarding the krylon fusion, I've heard nothing but great news. I want to use that as my backup plan if the textured paint doesn't work out well.
