Need some help and opinions.

my tranny is officially finished. i still have 60K powertrain warranty on it though. i was wondering if the dealership will give me a problem with the mods i have. i spoke to warren earlier and he said if they tell me that my mods are the cause of the problem, to tell them to prove it. Is this true? and if any of you guys are in the NY area and know someone that works at nissan, let me know. i need a new tranny/engine mounts BAD! thanks!

ummm at star nissan now, there is this white balding large individual which is a **** about everything. so unless you come with legal knowledge of what to say he's going to tell you NO. trust me i've tried. and people there really won't be able to help because this guy looks over everything. as far as tranny and mounts, i can talk to my friend that works in the parts department...buh if you talking the whole tranny...thats not something he can just "mis-order". and how bad are your mounts?

Umm wasnt there a guy on here name STAR that works at NY Nissan Parts?

In anycase our trannys have been know to go bad.. you should have had your tranny , replace the Mounts and Flash the TCU and also a flush.. in anycase your past that point , ask them to switch the tranny out...

What happen to your tranny towards the end ? 5AT ? did it just stop going into gears? where the gears banging hard before it went ? I ask because since DAY 1 Ive been trying to correct this issue with my Nissan Tech guy down here.

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE w/ 74k and I just got my 2nd tranny replaced. I had the first replaced under warranty @ 28k and then now (4k). I've also had motor mounts replaced 2X (1st under warranty) then this yr as well (My driving area consisted of NYC Metro area). I've had warped rotors 2X, "warped" stock wheels, shimmy problems necessitating 8 trips in 4yrs. I've had it. Sorry to air out my frustration on your thread man. Good luck to you...

Here is what will happen they will say your mods caused the problem and will say warranty won't cover the fix. There is a law that states that they have to prove that the mods caused the problem. You than tell the service adviser that you want a Nissan rep to come to check out the car. If they give you Bull tell them you are going to call customer service. I know someone who had his tranny changed going thru this process.

Good luck

sorry to hear.
i've heard bad stories @ the Star Nissan.
Luckily, I haven't had any tranny issues with my '04. I'm planning on driving this car until it has 300k miles (currently at 125k).

Do you know what caused your issue? I hear people saying that their "trannys went out" but never knew what it meant. Is it a general term (since there are so many things that can go wrong)??

Tell them about the Magnusson-Moss act. They have to prove that the part caused the failure and prove that the addition directly relates to the damage. Google the act and print it out. I would put a few things back to stock if you can. Airbox is easy to throw back on.

What mods do you have exactly? For the simple bolt-on's I would just put as many stock items on that you could (intake etc). For suspension mods unless you cracked the tranny on the bottom from car being to low shouldn't be an issue, nor should body/visual/audio mods. Good luck, don't take no for answer and call Nissan customer care if anything.
