Does This Sound Justifiable?

This past Saturday evening my right headlight gave up on me. I don't know if it's the bulb, or the ballast. About an hour ago I went to a customizing shop and I told them of my situation and how I didn't know if it was the ballast, or the bulb that needed to be replaced. The guy gave me a price if it was only replacing the bulbs (I'll change the left functioning one simply to match the color of the right one, plus I want to get 6000k) and he quoted me a price of $210 for bulbs and installation. Is that a reasonable price? Usually, with my other mods I always went by the first price and never bothered to check around, or even ask those who are more knowledgeable what they thought about the pricing and I've gotten comments like me being overcharged for something when I could've gotten it done for much cheaper. I figured it was time to get others input, so I ask you, owners of 6th generation Maximas, does the price sound reasonable?

I asked how much it would've been for the ballast and he said that I'd have to get that through the dealership. Can someone link me to a place where I can see how much the ballast costs? I just want to see how much more I might be looking to spend if indeed I need to change the ballast. Also, where can I get brand new headlight covers, for both the right and left headlights. It seems as though humidity has built up inside and it looks all foggy in the headlight covers so I want that clear look once again.

Thanks in advance.

You could get bulbs and ballast for both side from a vendor on tihs site. Most of that was probably labor to drop the bumber to get to them. Still over priced though. Here is one link to the hid"s

A little over priced but you have to take into consideration you went to a "customizing shop" Where they think the are a cut above the rest. Not saying they do bad work you just pay a premium at those types of places.

just buy a bulb. check fuse. then if need be a ballast.

not a big deal if you end up with a spare bulb compared to an entire spare ballast setup.

I don't think I explained myself clearly here......

I don't know how to do anything mechanical/technical, therefore I have to rely on people to do things for me. Meaning, even to check if it's the bulb that's only malfunctioning or if it's the whole ballast system in the right headlight. I have no way of knowing because I need someone to check that for me. This is the reason as to why I'm asking you guys if this price is a bit much for just a bulb change (and cost of bulbs included, of course) on both headlights, assuming it's just a bulb issue.

Maybe you could find someone local in your area you could trust, like someone from this forum. You could learn as they help you or they do it and you watch.

As for the condinsation build up that can be fixed you need to remove those headlights and seal them up use a hair dryer to clear the condinsation

I found an online manual, that tells you everything of this car in particular. It's about 147 long and covers everything about this. How to disassemble and reassemble things. So with this, I, along with a friend will try and working on this. I found a replacement bulb (again, assuming it's just a bulb issue). I've decided to go with the Phillips 6000k bulb.

why would you want 2 different bulbs? not to mention one with less light output???

It won't be two different bulbs. I am going to end up changing the left one as well (this still functions well). Seeing how I am changing the right one, I know that it won't be the same as the left one, so I'm going to change both just so they can look the same and at the same time for the simple reason that I'm going for a stronger bulb.

redls, yes, that's the one and thank you for the step-by-step on the bumper removal. You by any chance wouldn't know how to get, or where to get a step-by-step on how to install the switchbacks LEDs?
