Flip them down and pull them out towards the inside.

Or, paint them silver...

Ok I got them. Easy job.

Filter is filthy, full of dried leaves, and black, and its got 2 holes in it.

Worth getting the nissan one or just go aftermarket?

I also changed my catback system, shocks, strut mounts, spark plugs of course, distributor cap and wires, set the timing with a light, changed tranny oil and filter, .... I had the whole repair manual and I did it all myself. And yes, I did ask a crapload of questions on a tercel forum, I'm just like that....

I'm asking more questions here because I care about that car and I dont want to screw it up. Plus, I just got it so I had alot of questions.

on that!!! Very impressive indeed. You went from not reading the manual to this. I can't wait until you start dissambling the engine block and putting it back together......

An aftermarket filter is fine.

Just put it in the same way you took the old out.

And please dont buy the K&N replacement. Oil is a no no for Air Intake.

Auto zone is the way to go. Plus they have some kind of card now with reward point. I think 20 bucks and up and you get a point.....

Keeping the glove box closed (empty), look under the glove box and you will see 2 plastic hing pins with tabs. Slide them inward and remove, then while holding the bottom of the glove box with one hand, open and tilt in a 40-45 degree angle so that the glove box comes out of the groove. Let hang by the wire. You should now be able to see the access cover for the filter, I used a small flap tip screwdriver to release the tabs and open for access to the filter.

Reverse procedures once installed.

Then paint all 4 of your brake calipers...

Advanced Auto has one for ~$12 too. I think it was a Purolator.

I checked mine a month or so ago.

At 5yrs and 34K it looks almost brand new. Not counting the leaves and dead bugs.

Air cabin filters are almost always pleated paper (traditional) filters.

No sense in using an oiled medium filter as airflow is secondary.
