hey guys, i know there is a million threads about this but for the lovely few who will respond....thanks!.....now, who has actually tried both sets of springs for the 6th gen? of course i mean Progress and Eibach. and which do you prefer and why? also, my brake rotors need replacing soon. i would like to get something that looks hot but i'm not into racing....what do you guys recommend?....thanks again!...you guys are swell!!!

 

Eibach hands down from my experience, Progress over time has been shown to have some issues...

 

I have had Progress longer than anyone and I have NO issues with them at all.

 

What issues? Two years+ and perfect thus far.

From what I recall Eibach were the ones making noises and peple had to get their setups remounted and sleeves installed over the upper spring coil.

To each is own.

Lower Ride = Eibach
Smoother Ride = Progress
Best of both = TEIN
SOON to be the best = Racingline ;-)

 

Don't have the links anymore but google it and you'll see all the threads about issues with Progress (especially the ones I read as they get older). IMO Eibachs has a better quality spring that will last longer over time. Also even before Progress came out with springs for a Max I was rolling on Eibach's over a year before with zero issues (almost 4 years) with no noise and anyone who did have issues with them I attribute to bad installs period. Eibach overall has a way better world wide rep over Progress.

i hade eibachs with stock struts before it ride alot softer than the stock springs,but it made alot of popping sounds and my kept bottoming out, i also hade tein coil overs but its too rough for ny streets ,now i have progress with kybs no issues so far and this setup feels solid compare to the eibachs

I have Progress with stock struts and the ride is smooooooth. The stance is perfect and corners mint (can't say on rails due to the struts). A+++ for Progress in my eyes.

No replies on the rotors yet? I too am in the market for rotors and pads. Time to hit the search button.

 

Love the progress springs and I also have the KYB GR2s. Very solid. bought my springs used and repainted them. Car rides like a champ. Cant comment on the eibachs but do remember the posts about popping uncontrollably. They are both fine products. i have had no issues with contacting Progress when Ive had a question or concern. The rotorpros rotors are so far so good and customer service was very good.

 

Dont get me started, my maxi is still hiding in the garage, she wont come out. So I'm putting around in the Vibe. ERGGGhhhh...

Back on topic: get a set of springs that will give u the ride height you want. Most manufacturers have already worked out any minor issues.

Can't you blow a strut dropping on the stocks? I wanted to get springs, but everyone I talked to said its stupid to drop on a stock strut, because you'll most likely blow it..

If your roads are bad it's very possible, where I live the roads are really nice and I went 3+ years dropped on Eibach with my OEM struts with zero issues...

 

Progress all the way, I was on Eibachs for years and changed to progress a while back, couldnt be happier with the ride, smoother than Eibachs and has a more even drop.

 

I'm on Progress for almost 3 years now, and no problems; recently changed struts/shocks to GR2, but I never had issues w/ stock stuts/shocks. The ride on GR2is a stiffer than stock . I only changed them because I got a good deal.

 

I heard some people complaining about sagging in the rear when they had their Progress springs in. Is this true? Will spacers be needed to give the rear a lift?

 

jesus roads are so bad here in Montreal, 2 weeks ago I screwed a wheel in a trench in the road and yesterday I broke my bumper in another meteor crater.... montreal roads during spring, yay..... you dont spot the potholes, you spot the patches of nice road...

 

It's a slow process and you not driving your car makes it hard, me moving makes it even harder. I still gotta send you the new springs to play with and get some measurements.

 

I have a 05v6 and looking for a low even drop . Looking to get the fenders right above the tires on stock 18's is there a kit that will do that useing the stock struts[

 

If you are not going to go through and change your struts, do yourself a favor and just cut your stock springs...free

 

Eibach pro kit one all around with KYB GR2's....changed the rubber mounts to 54034-ZK004...no problems at all!

Overisized from brake rotor, vented, cross-drilled and cadmium plated. Rear are aftermarket too and also plated. Hawk HPS on all four = unbelievable stopping power compared to OEM.

i doubt you will get that with any lowering spring, espcially in the front. Thats the look i wanted and i had bought eibachs, to my knowledge no other spring has as low a drop as the eibachs in the front(2.0). So i ended up going with coilovers, they are pricey but completely adjustable and imo worth the money, but again if you live in an area with bad roads i wouldnt recommend you get coilovers.
