Interior light problems
Interior light problems
So I shipped my car from Seattle to Honolulu last month and just got my car to notice I had a dead battery. Looked inside and found the back dome light had been left on for over a month. So I bought a new battery and put it in. Shut car off and locked doors when I got back and lights went off but not completely, they were dim. Only half the voltage as I checked every door switch and every light socket. I did everything as far as research and what not on the net and no one has had this problem. I looked through chiltons to find absolutely nothing and have an appointment with nissan tomorrow. I took it to an electrical shop that told me to take it to nissan because they said the car has some type of control module that manages the lighting system and for them to troubleshoot and whatnot would be extremely expensive. I guess my question is, Do we have a BCM or something similar that would be shorted out due to this light being on for a month? If so what would this thing run me approximately for the part?
It should have no effect on the BCM if the lights are left on, but you never really know what can go wrong. A new BCM runs around 318 msrp. I have a spare one That I would let go for 150 shipped if it turns out this is what you need. We just need to check the numbers between your car and the BCM that I have.
ok so today nissan made me feel like a complete idiot. So the tech pulls me into the bay and tells me there is nothing wrong. One of my leds are bad. checked it out and sure enough it all works. However the led wasn't bad in any of the bulbs. I have bulbs that only work one way when installed and won't light up if installed incorrectly. So I tried each one individually and they all worked so I was like WTF right they should work. So I installed them all one at a time in each slot when I got to the last one the lights wouldn't go back off. So I took that one bulb out and replaced it with a regular bulb and it worked again. I talked with the tech again and he told me it is a series system and has to be able to go both ways on at least one bulb for some reason and that is why it kept happening. Need some advice on this. I don't want 3 blue led dome lights and 1 regular white light.
