1100-1200 RPM bird-like chirp noise

Every time I begin to accelerate, there's a slight (very-quiet, but noticeable) bird-chirp sounding noise coming from somewhere in the engine bay (it sounds lower in the engine area, but I can't tell if it's on the left or right). It is very abrupt and lasts only a second as the car revs past 1200 rpm, then does it again when it passes the same rpm going down to idle when I stop. This morning when I turned on the car to warm it up, the tachometer hovered in the 1100-1200 rpm range for a minute or two and the chirp noise went about every 2-3 seconds. If anyone has some input as to what it may be, that would be much appreciated. I will listen more closely later when I'm out of school, but my guess is belts (I just don't want to alert Nissan to it yet because I have Unorthodox UDP and they may blame it for no reason). Anyway, thanks!

Fire up the car and open the hood. Spray some WD 40 on the belt if the noise goes away you need a new belt.

Terrible idea. If the belt makes noise adjust tension. WD is a solvent and ***** rubber, if the belt IS good you wont be doing it any favors.

It sounds like he may be talking about the same chirping noise heard in the background of xoomer's video.

If that is the noise, isn't that normal?

Couldn't exolain it better my self. I've had the same problem for the past 6 months already. I only have the Nismo cold air. I did check my belts recently, but they seem good. I have about 55K miles and I do hear the chirp sound at low RPMS, but I only hear it when I relase accelaration to shift gears. I also have no clue which side its coming from.

It is from the belts off the underdrive and and power steering. Completely normal. Just changed all these guys and installed the underdrive pulley. Exact sound only at that range and you really have to listen for it. Dont spray silicone or wd 40 as people already said. you can take off the splash guard for the belts on the front passenger side and check for any belt laxity when the engine is running.. (dont put your fingers on it when car is on!!)

Not a terrible idea. I didn't say use it every day nor did I say to flood the belt with the stuff. A quick shot of WD40 ain't going to do any damage and will tell you without any labour if the belt is the problem.

That noise you say is from the Throttle body . It's normal since our cars use electronic throttle and not a cable like older cars. Everytime you push the gas you'll hear it, It's the mechanism nothing to worry about.
