I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but, is it true that an intake will save gas? Anyone have real life results with a 2007? or just a 6th gen in general? Debating on getting one.

 

They can save a little gas, (something like 2-4 miles a gallon I was told). Of course, this will only happen if you stop steppin' on it to hear/ feel it! I noticed a bit of a difference in my 5th gen after installing a Berk SRI though.

if you like the sound it makes when you step on it, then the answer is no. it will not save gas.

 

Uh...yes, at least that's what I tell the wife. So does lowering your car, and a catback, IM spacers, roof spoilers, you know. After all that you'll beat a Prius in mileage!

 

I think the IM spacers help a little with mileage too...

IMO, almost all bolt-ons aid in gas mileage...ONLY if the car is driven civilly.

 

i think this is a myth that you will actually save gas. in my civic gas mileage got horrible and im about to take it out. and my boy's car has the same issue. thats why im afraid to put cai in mine. my gas mpg is already horrible. it'll probably get worse if i put cai in my max.

 

my friend said it take 3 months to get better gas millage with a CAI. that how long it takes to get over the nice sound it makes when you stomp on it. after that with normal acceleration yes it will save just a little on gas but you really need to to CAI and exhaust to make it really work

 

it definitely gave me a lil boost on gas milleage...if you plan on installing it dont open her up cuz once u hear how good it sounds u wont have da rpm's lower than 4k lol haha

the answer is yes, my 98 expedition 5.4lt gets12mpg avg on city driving stop and go traffic. before cai 9.5 mpg with same driving conditions

 

its true you will see ur self flooring it around town so u will prob lose millage

 

Word has it that if you have super chilly cold air intake, you'll actually gain 5gallons of gas to the mile.

well IMO regarding hondas most who know hondas know that they make power in the higher band range...its one thing i love about them...the sound their engines naturally make when the v-tech hits.

buh back to the point because it it makes power in the higher RPM range you need to reach it more often. just like a max at full throttle, car go very very fast buh so does gas.

thats why if you ever drive a honda stick u'll notice, at least for me, the rpms travel much faster than others i've driven; ie, chevy, nissan, toyota, volvo, BMWs. nd you can't really safely grandma shift with them (>2000 RPM on flat surface)

buh yes theory states that a CAI would b better for gas mileage. how you drive is a different question.

I don't mean to threadjack but I have a question on the IM spacers. Is it possible that by installing the spacers you create a problem by isolating the engine's heat to one part of the engine?

 

I would supposed we would actually have to put some type of relif valve on the unit. becuase the tank would overflow!

 

i never once noticed a gain or loss of mileage with any intake i'v installed on any of my cars.
