In-cabin microfilter

I noticed yesterday that my ac wasn't blowing cold air when I went through the car wash. Could this be because I haven't replaced my in-cabin microfilter since I purchased the max over 40k miles ago? Can some of your max lovers help me out here?

Thanks!

not your in cabin filter, check the pressure that your compressor is functioning to full compacity and also freon levels. Will have to get a diagnostic but it is cheap. If your in cabin filter hasnt been changed in a while, getter done.

In-cabin won't affect that. I and other have had Freon leaks from the low pressure hose. They had to replace my twice within a 15mo period. I bet you have an A/C leak.

Sounds like an AC leak. Also, ur filter should be replaced by 40K. My was filthy at around 50K.

Yeah it's not your problem but change it anyways...it probably looks like this (mine after 30k)

Mine stopped blowing cold air and they found a broken wire down by my intake (I'm sure it's something I did since I'm always messing around in there!)

Yeah, but how much would an A/C leak cost to repair on average? (if that's what the problem is)

It aint cheap.

Mine had a leak a few months back. Without my extended warranty, my dealer quoted me I believe around 400. just to replace a hose. I still ended up paying $50 with the extended warranty.

Are you till under warranty? If not find a place in your area that fixes AC for the car. It will cheaper than the dealer. Watch what they are doing when they check it out. You don't want to pay for something you didn't need.

I'm at 42k right now. I was thinking the same thing! You know how the dealer just rips your pocket out of socket! Especially with these fuel prices now. I need to cut corners somhow. Thanks!

At 42k you are outside your warranty. Usually what they do is refill the system with an ltraviolet dye or freon with dye and then use the black light to see where the leak is. Just call around for prices, I think you are looking in $200-$300 price range. That's with a new hose and freon refill.

Here's a couple of previous threads, maybe something helpful in there too.

Filter is located right behind the glove box...You'll need physically remove the glove box to get to it. It took me about 10-15 minutes though, very easy. Courtesyparts has it for about $30, but you can pick up a puralator for about $12 at autozone.

if its not blowing at all then it may be the filter, or the fan, or fan resistor (if the resistor is at fault it ususally only works on high or low, no intermediate). but if its blowing but not cold its ur ac.

in-cabin microfilter

Went to the stealership the other day. They told me that I was extremely low on freon, and they would charge me $215 to charge it back up, put the dye in it and look for leaks under the U/V light.

Is there anyone in the D.M.V. (D.C., MD, VA) area that know where I could take my max to ang get a better deal for the same service?

Thanks!

OG

okay winterfaust, I will take you up on that. I live in columbia so it's not that long of a drive. The dealership told me that they didn't see anything visibly wrong with my a/c lines but I was really low on freon. I will give you a call monday morning!
