Quote: what do you not like about the ebay exhaust ?

I am not 100% on it because I worry about the price point (like $300 for the whole thing shipped to my doorstep) - kinda giving me doubts dude.

Would love to go with a custom set-up it but it can reach a pricepoint that is going to keep me sleeping on the couch for at least 1 night.
Put a stop on your mail when it's due, then pick it up at the post office after it is delivered.

I personally don't like the single tip. I would just go check out a good exhaust shop and think you would be surprised that I is comparable in cost. And if you go with magnaflow there is a life time warranty.

She will flip out if I go with the custom setup bud - the other option is not a problem at all.

But good idea overall - I see you have indeed seen Band of Brothers

If you just do the mufflers and a new pre-silencer you are going to be around the same price as the eBay exhaust. I will post some pics and clip tomorrow and you can decide for yourself which looks and sounds better.

You can also do a search and find pics and clips of the magnaflow on the forum.

who makes headers that compete with cattman for an 07 maxima. OBX doesnt make any to fit past an 03, and are those ones universal for all 3.5's or not? i dont want to be cheap, i really like the sound cattman gives. if need be i will go with brian for sure

Check out the high flow cats from Racingline. Those are a better option IMO. You won't have to deal with the possibility of CELs, and the install is a direct replacement. Full headers are quite a bit more difficult. I had the Cattman headers on my '04.

Flat black Vibrant 1148s! Stealthy, very high quality, great tone, and easy to keep clean...

They do have some polished mufflers too, but I really love the flat black ones.

this is an E cut-out for your 04 max

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z-Jgo0PjCY

pretty much the only one here advocating this mod. its was 200 bucks installed. I have it hooked up to a switch inside my car next to the steering wheel heater. the system goes back to stock noise when closed and can vary the volume from quiet to loud depending on how far the valve opens. can also adjust back-pressure for performance and gas mileage if you care enough.

sorry about the sh!tty sound quality, my camera sucks and can't pick up on what it sounds like in person but it give you an idea.

if your talking to me, there are not many people here who have done the cutout. i started a thread about it and found i was to pioneer it on my own. im very glad i did tho it came out great.

i got the cutout from summit. go with 3" piping when you get it installed. if they begin their rehursed speech on backpressure just tell them what i wrote in other threads regarding the topic and they will shut their mouths because they know YOU know better. 3" is ordered less, thus more expensive so they always try and sell you the more profitable piping. Im starting to think this is where the myth/broken logic came from.

i replaced the stock resonator with an expansion tube which goes from 3"<4">3" and the cutout right from there. it wasn't really necessary as it sounded the same with it on or off but i bought it and didn't want to return it. i would suggest getting an actual high flow resonator. and then putting the cutout on the end of it.

but test it out, make sure your exhaust company will work with you, start the car and hold the pieces up to where they will be welded so you can mix and match for the best sound and have someone rev the engine for you or vice versa. I suggest the resonator even tho i don't have one because some people don't like the crackle pop noise under hard
acceleration-deceleration of the engine. also because it will rid yourself of all cabin noise. i have a slight amount but when i don't want it i just close the valve a little bit and problem is solved. another reason i didn't go with res, is because it sounds better without one. with a res, you won't have to deal with it ever. but i like the bit of cabin noise when im feeling "spirited" it takes me back to when i was amateur racing years ago.

pm me if you need any help, ill be more then willing to walk you though your questions. good luck

Any modifications need to be done to fit the Mflow to the 6th GEN?

well yes, if your inlet on your mflow is any size bigger or smaller then the piping of your max (which is 2.25") you will need to mod the pipe to fit. But this is expected by exhaust shops. they don't charge "extra" for it. if you are doing it yourself you can buy an expander, or you can put split in your pipe, take a wedge and hammer it till it opens enough to weld. that way is ghetto tho..

Way off. CatBACK, not CatFORWARD. Completely legal in states where common sense still remains.

I have the Nismo Catback on my car for a little more than two years now and love it. Gives the Maxima that extra aggressive sound it was lacking. The drone can be annoying if you are always stuck in traffic but on highways its all cool. If drone is a concern, drive in manual mode and play around.

I guess I should have said change, not re-vamp, since I haven't done anything to it yet.. But no, a cutout will not be in my future, I don't want or need it that loud, and want a more refined sound, albeit a little louder.

your in an exhaust thread, post your own and you'll get some answers, but before you do that, SEARCH for it. people get all but hurt and angry like little girls when there is an existing thread on your question. they will in fact take time out of their day to search for it, find your answer, then b*itch and moan for wasting their precious forum space on a website that gets no activity, call you a noob and whatever forum jargon exists, and then go about their day as if it was an important event to them. they will then go back to to see if anyone will laugh at their quirky remark, see if you get offended, and if you do they will feed off it like self conscious, low self esteem, high school girls. where if this were anything other then a forum where they can hide behind their computers, they'd get knock'd the F out. welcome to maxima.org!!!

ill pm you the link

thats the only neg thing ive ever said about the forum and rightfully so, i hang out here a lot now because the maxima is still new to me and now that im done with my other ride (for now) i got my attention on modding the max. im not the only one here tossing **** at the fan. your right the door does work both ways. my pops got the entire car scanned and is working auto-cad to develop a turbo for the 6th gen. you all will be begging me to sell you the piping cheap once all the dimensions for are figured for the prototype. maybe i will, maybe ill charge you 1000% of material cost like all the other companies do.

Seriously, how old are you? Your typing probably reveals it.

My Maxima is a daily driver, I'm not going for world's first or fastest anything. Good luck with your turbo kit and the huge volume of sales it will encompass, all 10 of them. Only a small number of owners are interested in that level of modification.

You sure do get worked up easily. Take a break from the internet for a little while.

I think majority were talking like a set with b-pipe also like a Nismo Catback or Cattman etc. etc. but alot of people are having a custom setup with the Magnaflow Mufflers...me for 5th Gens cant get better than a Cattman....havent heard it on a 6th gen though...

I did the N1 catback with the 14816 magnaflow mufflers. If you want an amazing sound without the annoying drone the you should go with that setup. The idle is really good too and you get the agressive sound when you rev.

Overall I'm happy I went with the magnaflow
