What's the best EXHAUST to put on 6th gen Maxima ????

Hey guys..

I have an 04 Max SL, and I want to put on a muffler/exhaust. I'm not looking for a full system, just something I can install to make it sound better. I looked on eBay at Magnaflow, Catback, Nismo... etc. and I'm not sure which one to get. What do you guys think?

LOL I have no idea if it's a brand or not... all I see on ebay is Catback exhaust, yada yada...

How much do exhausts like that cost? i'm looking for one that has 2 tips on each side... or would 1 tip on each side be better???

The tips are just for look..Catback means/ is a full exhaust with no catalytic converter..which is illegal, but no one really cares, just during inspection you need to know some people..

The Catback system actually means from the catalytic back. It's not illegal cause your not removing the catalytic converter, just a system from the "cat.- back", hence behind the Cat. BTW I personally have the Nismo Catback and love it but your choice. You are at the right place asking the right questions. And before you purchase something once you make up your mind make sure you come here and find out if it really fits....

I watched the videos on youtube and google with the diff mufflers. The magnaflow and the nismo sound good... except it's on video, you know. So, i'm not sure if that's how it is in reality (better or worse). But I'll check out the prices and i'll post on here what my options are. :-)

Here's a shot of my Nismo exhaust

I thought I'd like the quad tips better...but after having Cattman and Nismo...both look great. Nismo is more subtle noise level, more like a 350z. Cattman is very mean, aggressive, and loud.

It's weird how all the video clips I wanted on you tube, and been watching for a week... they turn out to be members here lol. It's a small world, i tell ya... I like the Cattman and nismo sound. Of course I don't want anything ghetto to sound like a ride rocket lol I'm definitely not gonna treat mine like an integra or a civic or anything...

I'm either gonna choose Nismo or Cattman.. I like both of the sounds

The tricky part will be finding a Nismo, as far as I know they are gone. It's really for the Altima but has to be modified to fit our cars. The Nismo's most folks are talking about on here were "pre-modified" by Berk for our cars.

Im sure thats what he meant. But it did answer his question correctly as the "best" way to get a g35/350x tone. Just a little July 4th humor . . .

greddy, cattman, and nismo is what just about everyone uses on here. from what i understand

Cattman = loud and aggressive

Nismo = quiet but sporty until you floor it

Greddy = is similar to the nismo but a bit different tone at higher RPM

im also trying to decide what exhaust to buy (almost sure im picking Nismo, if i can get a hold of one, wish it had the 4 tips tho) if not a cattman

One side note, I've heard of loss of low end power with the Greddy. I believe it's due to the larger diameter pipe they use. I believe you will gain whp with the Cattman, I know you gain HP with the Nismo. I dynoed it when I added the Cattman Y-Pipe (highly recommended) and the Nismo exhaust. http://www.6thgenmaxima.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5159

IMO I would have liked to stay dual tip...

If Y pipe was added, doesn't it mean the cat convert has to be taken out??? I'm tryin to avoid that so I don't go through hell smogging the car... it's CA so their emission laws r a B***h...
