Others respect the maxima

Another sales guy in my company drives an 07 BMW 530i and when he saw me on the interstate with my 04 SE he rolled his window down, gave me a thumbs up and said "That's a nice car!"
There is rarely a thought of getting any other car, and you should have seen how often I used to be on autotrader. The only car that I want to experience in the next 10 years is the rwd prowess of a bmw 335i.

I also had a guy that was sitting at the gas pump driving a beemer and was asking how I like the Maxima that he had been looking at them lately and was very impressed. I told him that it is a blast to drive.

I do like the part in the first post where someone mentions how "quiet" the maxima is inside.
For all it's good features, no generation maxima I've ever driven or ridden in (2nd through 6th) has had good sound insulation/deadening. Vaguely comparable cars like the TL and and Camry are CONSIDERABLY more quiet inside, especially with regard to wind and road noise. Maybe the 7th gen is different, but who knows...
That said, some noise isn't always a bad thing. My 4Runner is so quiet it sometimes makes me sleepy ...no engine noise, no road noise, no wind noise. Need to buy an intake and some knobby A/Ts for it

im a altima owner and i know altima owners bash on 6th gens but GUESS WHAT I TEST DROVE ONE AND I LOVE 6th gens not to menion im buying one soon so yeah Maxima feels more stable than my Altima ...............I dont care if a V6 altima is .4 sec faster than a Maxima ............a 6th gen feels more rigid, luxrious, comfort, quiet, stable
so i say 6th gen is a great car and who ever says its slow and not capable of having awsome power than go check out Chern and learn some things so the guys who bash on the 6th gens Stfu

I own an 03 Audi A4 6 speed with the 3.0 engine, but I must say that Maxima's are sweet cars, I wanted one (4th gen) for so long when I was in high school/college and I still have a "thing" for them, my friend owns a nice 07 he picked up for very cheap and I have driven it a few times and I love the thing, I think it looks great both outside and inside, the engine is great, smooth power, compared to my A4 it feels a bit big and does not handle as tight, but that is to be somewhat expected.
Another friend of mine has a 4th gen 1995 (Auto), and even with over 100k that thing will still give my A4 a run for its money on the highway and its stock!
I have also driven many newer 5th gen's and I love the motor, again my only complaint is the car didn't feel quite as tight and solid as my A4 in the turns and when going over bumpers, but overall I still recommend the Maxima so many people who are looking for a nice sedan that is fairly priced and not boring as hell to drive.

was doing some thread searching and found some things people say pretty interesting..some think of our cars as a big slow family sedan..and the smart ones know what the Maxima is about..here are some quotes that put a smile on my face and make me PROUD to be a Maxima owner..
From other car forums:
"isn't a maxima like a full size sedan family type vehicle?"
"Yes but it can has teh 265hp VQ35 ZOMG!"
"The VQ series of motors are no joke. I wouldnt want to run against one with a manual. It's going to be torque down low."
"The VQ has a ton of torque and decent top end."
"Under the Hood: There's only one engine in the 2004 Nissan Maxima but it's a beauty. The 3.5 liter DOHC V-6 delivers 265 hp plus 255 lb.-ft. of torque.
Hmmm....yeah....265 hp without 20% drivetrain loss doesnt seem all that bad. Not to mention the VQ is going to have a rather flat torque curve."
"Just the same, the Maxima is quicker than most think or are willing to admit.
The 3.5L Maxima's are putting out between 255-265 hp (the one is question is 265) and surprisingly they only weigh about 250-300lbs more than a wrx... despite its size. They pull hard and that VQ puts out torque like a V8.
6spd Maxima's are even worse for you wrx fan boi's. They consistantly run mid 14's @ 97/98 with a handful of good drivers getting the 3.5L maxima's into low 14's @ 98/99mph."
MY FAVORITE:
"I think that's why i've always liked the Maxima... People like you guys underestimate it so much for what it is."
"Do we know that this maxima has the fantastic and magnificent vq35 though?"
"hummm i never thought thoes were that quick"
"Yeah, most don't realize.
They're not super cars or anything, lol... But a lot of people are surprised to know what the maxima can do."
"Those VQ's are serious business"
".... That car is FAST. Forget a stock rex on the highway, it won't have a chance against this thing. No question. If you are looking for a nice looking fast sedan for a second driver, go check this baby out."
"however I saw it on the road and that totally changed my opinion of the car. It is unlike anything I've seen on the road. Quad tips..wow! You have to see this car in person to appreciate its beauty."
"Yikes! Its a beast now. At 4k rpm, the intake changes geometry and it wants to run hard. Sounds comming from the engine will raise yer shackles. On the interstate, it'll go. I dunno how I'd fair against it even with my mods. Toss in the slick shifting 6 speed(long throws, but silky smooth), nice taught suspension and quiet ride, and its a steal at the 23-25k that they cost. They take to mods okay for a NA car too. Y-pipe, intake and pullies and 300 @ the crank is not unheard of."
This all makes me feel good when I sometimes see other cars I like on the road saying "maybe I should have gotten that" Newer cars may be coming out that are faster..but the Maxima will always live up to it's legend. We have the perfect blend of just about..everything.
One more thing I realized about Maximas is the owners...most of us on our forums are really down to earth and really friendly and mature. A lot of other forums have a lot of d-bags on them..so makes me feel great to be home at the org.

Just the name alone, makes me proud! "MAXIMA"! I dont think there is another car with a name that gives a sense of "power"...

of course E55 AMG and M5 E39 are powerful engines and plenty more, but I am not talking about that, I'm talking about the name "alone"...just think of the name "MAX..."

LOL sounds like you are enamored. The cool thing is you can pickup a 5th gen Max for between 5 and 8k for one in great shape! I can't wait to get one for my shared DD. The 7th gen are absolutely gorgeous but I'll have to wait till prices come down on those a bit.
