Alignment problem after suspension install.

Greetings all,

After doing my suspension, I seem to be having a problem with the car pulling to the right. I took it for an alignment, to a shop that has done a perfect alignment to my vehicle before and they were unable to correct the pull. They have even gone as far to ask me if I had an accident with the car, which I never have.

Has anyone else had a problem after suspension modification? They were able to straighten the wheel but I'm still pulling to the right and it's annoying as hell. Could something have gone wrong during my install to cause this. I had my suspension reinstalled and it hasn't resolved the issue. Prior to the springs and struts, I had no issues.

It could be a malfunction or defected spring, by half of an inch that is causing this. Highly doubtful, but you never know. I have that issue right now, but I haven't gone back to get it fix yet as I'm getting new pads and rotors soon. what kind of suspension did you buy?

I got Monroe Sensa-trac struts and Tein Springs. Nice smooth ride with controlled cornering. A little soft with those struts but still nice and smooth. Just what I wanted.

How 'bout a picture of your drop Bro.

For the heck of it try swapping the wheels/tires from left to right and right to left and then report back what happens.

When is it pulling, at highway speeds? If so, are you in the right lane? If so, move to the left lane and see if it corrects itself. The car will follow the crown of the road. I am going to get an alignment on Wednesday because I pull to the right too but only little bit- getting it done at the dealership for $69. Its their new laser guided system.

Pics of the Tein drop please. I told you that you would like the Monroes. I do too but I am on Progress springs b/c they were listed as softer on the front springs. Although the softer rears might add to some additional comfort.

Tein S Avg Lower: F(1.6"), R(0.5")
Spring Rate: F(196 lbs), R(302 lbs).
Progress Lower Front 1.8” Rear 0.75"
Spring Rate: Front 180 lbs. Rear 350 lbs.

I'll post pics of the drop after I get her washed. Before the end of the week.

Yeah that was some good advice on the Monroes. They feel real nice and they complement the springs well. I'm still getting some front end noise though over bumps and such. Almost identical to the other setup but the ride is far better. I will take a look a the other components there to see what is causing the noise.

I've found that when i'm riding on the left side of a road with a slight slope, it's fine but if if the road is level it pulls to the right.

I've had the suspension dismantled twice since then for some minor modifications and I've had them take a look at it but they don't see anything visibly.

The only thing that stands out in my mind is when we went to put the left strut in, we had trouble getting it to line up to the front sway bar and we may have bent something during this but I was told earlier that if the bar was bent, it would have no effect on the alignment.

The endlinks are coming in Thursday and this weekend when i install them, I'm going to have another look under there to see if I can see anything out of wack.

Could it be they put a rear spring in the front and the front spring in the back and thus you are pulling? Total shot in the dark there.

What does your alignment printout read?

Ummm did you really just say that? Not trying to be a wise-**** but I keep reading it to make sure it says what it says.

My alignment printout reads everything is ok within spec and that's what is puzzling.

wow.... i'm guessing you've never done a susp. job. the reason i'm saying this is if you get a chance look at our springs the rear is totally wider than the front. NO way possible can you make the mistake of installing the rear on front. and the rear shocks and springs are interchangeable can use on either side of the rear . i belive only the front shocks have a left and a right front only of course

dont take it wrong one of my friends told me that a while back bc i thought i did something wrong one time

Just pulling something out of the dark; you asked for ideas.

Are you certain that all 4 springs were the correct ones?
Any wheel/tire issues?
Bent rim, excessively worn tire?

I've been dropped on different springs and struts since '05 and mine has never lined back up 100%. The rear tow has, and will always be just off (without some extra work of course).

Count the threads on all the struts. Make sure they match. If one strut is sunk in further (L/R) you have a potential problem. Pull out a level and see of your car leans a bit. Tire pressure might play into this issue. Check out those items and get back to us.

take another look at the alignment printout, if the wheel is straight then either tires are making it pull, or your car is leaning (above) or caster may be out, it wont wear your tires out but it will cause it to pull. basically its the 'rake' of the front wheels, and if they arent evenly adjusted in reference to one another it will make it pull. so make sure 'cross caster' is dead center. at least thats what the hunter alignment machines at my work calls it.

Ok .... I got the endlinks done today and I must say, I was instantly aware of the difference. I think the OEM endlinks are a huge problem as far as the feel and handling of the ride is concerned now that I've upgraded and I advise anyone with a 'suspension' problem to do this mod first and then go with everything else. I did it the other way around and while I'm happy, i'm thinking I should've done the endlinks first.

Anyway, as for the suspension now that the struts have settled down, it's smooth as hell and the wet traction has improved 100%. Not that it's safe but I was flying down the road during a nice rain storm, while the stock suspension would've sent me into the trees on the side of the road, the Tein springs with the upgraded struts kept her planted.

Now I have to figure out my alignment issues and start on the braking system.

As for the pics, here they are. The drop is very ummm even ... it seems as if the front and back are exactly the same. No rubbing or touching, however I think the bushing that came with the struts is banging but it's not bothersome and only sounds over certain bumps and the top seat on the left side needs to be replaced as someone has told me before and I'm looking to replace that soon.
