my story gets even worse lol , to bad i didn't take a picture of it this time, After i put everything in , when i tested the AC i was getting a rattle so the next day after i got out of work i decided to take it apart again , so i pull the cover off and look in thinking maybe the filter isn't sitting right. I saw something sitting ontop of the filter. I thought to myself , self this can't seriously be dirty again i just changed it yesterday , so i pulled the filter out and it was clean, so i reached inside the chamber and pulled out a bundle of leaves and grass and weeds the size of a softball , It looked like a nest. After that i put everything back together and i'm not getting a rattle now , it's more of a vibration from the motor , so i'm not sure what's wrong or if that's just my blower motor breathing a sigh of relief .

Just changed mine. Wasn't as dirty as what I've seen but after 13 months & 18,188 miles it was due. It was more blackish with only 1 leaf stuck in it. I did however snap one of the clips, so I'll have to goto the stealership tomorrow and order a new door .

wow. good call on changing cabin filter. i even work at autozone and still cant remember to change the darn thing. may have to do that tomorrow at work.

Question to anyone who can help me out. Trying to get a throttle body spacer for my 05. All i can find is an OBX Racing brand. Does anyone know if one off of a 350z or altima will work? I contacted the company that produces the Helix Power Tower Plus and they said they were not sure. That it would fit a Z and an Altima. You guys know of any other brand or answers. I hear all for VQ35DE engines will work and i hear they are all different.

After reading this post I decided to change the cabin filter for my max as well.

Got the Bosch filter from Shucks for about $22 and following the instructions replaced the filter. Now my old filter wasn't as bad as the top prize winner but wasn't as clean as I would have hoped it to be after 52K.

Now after I replaced the filter and went for a drive I could literally feel the difference in the air quality and wife also commented that the air felt a lot better.

Thanks for the reminder guys

Hey guys
OK, so I was changing the air filter today and was able to get to the part where we unhook the tabs that hold the air filter door in place, and this is where I am having trouble. How the heck are you supposed to unhook the tabs? The tabs say 'Push', but push in which direction? I have tried using a screw driver to force the bottom of the tab towards me, but other than deep scratches in the plastic, I am getting nowhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, that is kind of confusing. The push is to re-install. Basically you just pull outward on the bottom of each tab. They were pretty tight for me so I used a small flathead screwdriver to pop them out. Good luck.

This is a good thread, its snowing here but i managed to get a Bosch Premium in-cabin filter from Autozone, i only have 17,743 miles on her at the moment. The tabs say 'push' when re-installing the plastic lid, to open pull the tabs towards you and it will pop out. I had to use a flashlight though.....

What's the big difference between the Bosch Charcoal filter and the Particulate filter? i got the cheapest....

the charcoal powder embedded into the Bosch filter will help reduce unwanted odors inside your car.

I just installed the Purolater one also. 15.00 no discount. lol Took less than 10 minutes to install. I went to the dealer to buy the "K" tranny fluid and looked at the price board, they wanted $139.95 to change the filter and $180.00 to change the tranny fluid. What a ripoff.

The service dept. changed mine 30K mile ago. One thing I noticed is that the window defroster is blowing dust and dirty crap all over the dash. Turned the dash a shade darker until I wipe it off. Will the in cabin filter stop that stuff or not?

I do not know if that is a filter problem but I would change it since you changed it 30K miles ago. Change it yourself its fast and cheaper. Read my reply above.

it should...

it's there to help filter the air going through the vents regardless if you have it on recycle or fresh air setting.

I just changed mine for the first time since I've owned the car....I bought it new in 03 so 96500 miles later. My wife kept asking me if I farted after the heat would start blowing so I figured it was time. It was black on both sides with some leafs and other random chunks of road ruffage.
