My 02 sensor was a biatch to remove even with an 02 socket, we had to put the biatch on a vice to get the one off my old Y-Pipe!!!

Hey Taz. I chatted a bit with you on the "other" forum and in your post about the y-pipes being avail. you wrote-

"Racingine Y pipes Now available!! Y pipes for the 04-08 Nissan Maxima are now ready for immediate shipping!!!!

Dyno proven 12+ hp gain to the wheels http://www.racinglineperformance.com/images/dyno12.jpg

-complete bolt on, no special tools needed
-full stainless steel construction
-application for manual, auto, and CVT

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

You can conveniently order online at any time.

Racingline Performance"

I was assuming we could get 12 hp out of one of these! I guess we can dream, right! haha still looks like a good product though.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to start anything, just wanted a little clarity, that's all.

so what exactly are you saying? i think we are unclear to what you're getting at...are you saying they aren't producing the 12whp? i have mine sitting in the garage, havent been able to install it yet, but we are unsure as to what you're talking about

Maybe just a bit of confusion on my part. I was reading this thread, and kept seeing the 1-2 hp comments and was thinking they were talking about total gains.

So this pipe can really pull up to 12 hp gains? Thats pretty impressive!

Comparing it with the stock pipe, how can it perform soo much better, I mean, they dont look THAT much different. A bit of a newbie to the Maxima world, so sorry.

There are atleast 3-5 threads on how the aftermarket y pipe is better/how it works.. Take some time and reasearch it

As for you question about HP gains, The dyno speaks for itself... I noticed a decent difference when i added my cattman y-pipe, i also addded the spacers shortly after, then the VIAS black.. with all three working together, i felt a BIG difference... Add the cattman headers to my application and BOOM, INSTANT mid/low 13's (13.3-13.6) for sure..

All in all, BY EITHER Y PIPE ... great mod for the money!

Edit: and its not just HP gains, ITS WHP gains , which in turn is higher number than you think.. 12whp is around 15-16 Fly wheel hp +/-

Also it adds TQ !!! Win win for sure!

Thanks FastMax05. Sorry for the misunderstanding, as far as asking about how it is better than the stock pipe, I was just looking for the short answer. But I will do some reading. Looks like I shout start saving some money. So how much sound did the headers add to your ride? havent heard any around here, so I'm not sure.

Thats because there are none out EXCEPT duesexmax... he has the 1st set of 6spd manual headers made FOR the maxima... some others have the cheapo ebay headers or headers for an altima , but not MADE for the maxima..

anyway, dues' car sounds VERY mean.. .although, he has a different exhaust setup. he has single exhaust on his maxima, yep single!!!!!

anywho it will change signifigantly , but start w/ the y pipe and other mods i said IE: spacer kit from aaron, B pipe, Vias black etc.. Then talk about headers

Lets not get a thread jack going on so back to topic...

BUY A Y PIPE!!!!!!!!!

First Impressions of Racingline Y-Pipe

Prior to my install today I had the Berk Intake, NWP Spacers and Magnflow 14807's muffs installed. I even had the sensors realigned. The setup had some insane torque in the low end. Great off the line.

Tonight I installed the Y-pipe. I've been informed I would lose a little torque on the low end but feel a solid gain in the middle of the band. It was true. Off the line you can feel the loss of torque but not much. Across the power feels very strong otherwise. I was amazed at how fast I got up to 100 and the car didn't feel as it needed to work harder to get there. The car sounds mean when you accelerate hard. And my idle is smoother at red lights.

There comes a time in one's modding addiction that you're forced to send off the ECU for a TS or get a piggyback w/ dyno tuning. I'm two mods away from that expense. Unorthodox UDP and the cattman B-pipe.

Taz, thanks for the great product. Once we had the O2 sensor off the old Y-pipe it was 10 minutes and then hitting the road.

Guys, I'm sure either way, Cattman or Racingline you can't go wrong. Just my .02

Kev

Has anyone been able to contact Taz recently? I ordered a y pipe from racingline about 5 days ago and it's stilled marked as pending, there were 7 in stock according to the site when I ordered. I also sent a message via their website, no response yet.

I've always loved my RL y-pipe and had no fitment issues when I installed it.

Just a heads up but, according to Taz, Racingline is going to be releasing a new version of their Y-pipe to address the ground clearance issue. Long awaited and much anticipated.
