Annoying humming noise

Annoying humming noise
hey, so today i was on the road quite a bit, with my pops( it was his bday, but no silly loud music or windows down) and we noticed that my tires were making a really annoying, constant hum. So we thought it would either be due to:
1. bad tires
2. tires were not balanced properly
3. mis-shaped tires, not round
So if anyone has any experience or thought to my situation please feel free to help.
BTW tires have decent amount of tread and about 41k on them.

i had 4 brand new RSA's installed when i got the car (proper balance and alignment too). within 5K miles, i too get a 'hum' right around 60mph.... its not RPM related- it is speed related.
my 'old' tires, which only had 24K miles on them were LOUD as hell (stock RSA's) and needed to be replaced.
id bet you need new tires.

Also it didnt necessarily sound wrong it just got annoying listening to it over and over.
However i noticed it at every speed, not at certain rpms.

I did not get my wheels alligned when I first bought my 2004 -- and for about 1.5 years (something over 15 K miles). I rotated my tires every 7,500 miles. By the time I found that the rear wheels were not properly alligned, I had put cups in all 4 RSA tires. Because of these cups in the tread, the Max would rumble when it was driven. The faster you drove, the louder the rumble. I ended up replacing the RSAs at about 30 K miles due to this bad rumble and the cracks in all 4 tires (located at the interface between the tread and the sidewall). As reported on other treads on this site, many of our original equipment RSAs experience these cracks.
If the cupping in the tread is bad enough, you can feel these cups. Just run your hand across the surface of the tread. You will feel the indentations in the tread where the cups have been worn in the tread.
I now get my wheels alligned (by the dealer) at least once a year. Since I again have new tires (third set on this Max), I will get the tires alligned before I drive back east for Thanksgiving. The wheel allignments are cheaper than buying new tires.

Well usually if it's your tires the sound will change when you are on different types of paving. Mine are a little louder on surfaces that are grooved or the grooves run straight across the direction of the road and if the sound never changes then it's probably something other than your tires.
I myself have a loud grinding sound when I hit my brakes and when I am going at lower speeds and turning and it just seems to be really loud. Of course they keep saying that it's all from my new tires but I am pretty sure your not going to get huge amounts of road noise from your tires when you are only doing 10 miles an hour and turning. It sounds way too metallic for that. I still have my stock brake set up but I do have new slotted and dimpled rotors and EBC red brake pads I can have installed.
It almost sounds like the brakes are still rubbing when I am going slow and turning.

I am kind of new to the forums still can’t start a new thread yet. I need help. I have a couple of issues. One is vibration at idle my passenger seat shakes and if there is anything in the cup holder behind the shifter shakes. The other problem I have is my tires keep getting cupped on the inside. I have gotten an alignment a couple of times and it doesn’t help. I get them balanced every 10k and align as needed. Any help will be great thank you

Can's talk about your vibration issues. But the tire cupping is something I can.
My original equipment tires were trash early on because of tire cupping due to the wheels (rear are more of a problem than the front) being out of allignment. What I have found now that I have 106 K miles on my Max is that I need to get all wheels alligned twice a year or about every 5 K miles or so. I take a long trip every summer in July, so I get the wheels alligned in late June. I also take a trip over either Thanksgiving or Christmas every year, so I get them alligned just before that trip.
I have found that the wheels on my Max just don't like to stay properly alligned -- I consider this a problem with the Maxima -- but one I am willing to live with because I like the car very much and can have frequent allignments to correct the problem.
As to your problem, once a tire is cupped, there is no solution to repairing this problem other than to replace the tire. I lived with the bad cupping on my original tires for a number of miles and a rumble that developed due to the cupping getting worse as the tires wore down evenly after proper allignment. This was cured with new tires and the twice a year allignment has greatly reduced the cups that have developed on the new tires. I am on my third set of tires (counting the original) and will probably replace these in June before the long trip.
