Carbon fiber mirror insets
I think carbon fiber mirror covers would look fabulous on our cars. I dont think anyone is gonna make em. Sooooooo, I decided to try carbon fiber (cf) overlay material. I checked Autozone, which had ok quality material, and PEP Boys which had $hit wuality material. I went to Super Autobacs and found some nice thick good quailty material. It cost $2.99 for 10 cm. Ill let you guys figure out how much that is.
Using a credit card in a sock for a scraper and soapy water in a spray bottle and a blow dryer to heat the material, I covered just the middle flat area of the front of the mirror. I would have like to go all the way around, but i lack the skill to install it that way. Besides, its hard to see the area which is nearest the car.
Anyway, here are some pics:
What do you think?

not really a fan...I was thinking earlier when i saw your hood and tail, if it was possible to make the whole mirror frame carbon fiber? I think That would be nice, especially on your whip. Maybe Max2damax can work his magic there? IDK just an idea.

Its VERY VERY hard ot get a good pic of a black car, and its hard to shoot carbon fiber too. A black car with CF is almost impoosible to shoot accurately. It looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better in person.

I don't know why everyone hates it, I think its nice. whether he did a strip or the whole thing I think it looks good. I give you props dues for always being original and doing things outside the box

hmm. it doesnt look bad, but its not all that. the biggest thing is that you get the lip from the overlay since its not going all the way around the mirror..looks kinda ricey imo. but definetly props for the original idea.

Deus, if it was done a bit more custom it would look sharp.
You know like blended in more an glazed or cleared over.
Did you adjust your hood yet? I notice it's still raised in
some areas. Is that the permanent fit/look of the CF Hood once installed?

It looked better in the new pix then in the 1st few. I kinda like it, cause it goes with your theme quite well. I was actually thinking about covering my gas tank door in some CF. Cause right now its black and I really don't feel like painting it to match the car, so I'm gonna lay down the CF.

+1 and that is the key, it goes with your theme and the color scheme goes as well. Black CF out of no where on on my car or white or something like that would be cheesy.
Interesting a whole CF hood can get dropped on a car and be hot and then the some CF accents on a car with a CF hood are not? I couldn't even tell it was a sticker, IMO the stripe is just right, the whole mirror would be too much.
I wonder what would have happened if you would have said a body shop had been working on this mod for months and you just unveiled it, cost $200.
I wonder how well it will hold up in rain etc.

I'm tellin ya, it looks right!
There's a classic line: "Sir, you did a really nice job with your car. Really. I like it. But the problem is that everything is illegal on it." LOL
But is the hood really aligned properly?
