How much for muffler installation?

I'm just waiting for my Magnaflow mufflers #14816 to arrive and I was wondering how much would it cost for installation? I went to one shop to start looking around the dude quoted me $165 ea. I just want a fair price so if you had yours installed how much did you pay?

I bought it at www.autoanything.com Price was $345.51 for 2 with the 10% discount and free shipping.

I know this is not Meineke Illin. I was just asking for some advice/help cuz I'm kinda new to this moddin' business. I'm sure you have all the answers

LOL, i like to think sometimes i have all the answers. Sorry if i came off like a Richard but i think calling some muffler shops will get you better numbers than asking on the forums.

$165 each??? Wow, I called a whole bunch of muffler shops and found one that did both mufflers for about half of what they're charging you for one, $85 to be exact. I was so happy I gave the dude who installed them $10 on top of that since everywhere else was trying to charge around $100 each. I guess the only advice I really have is to try and find a local muffler shop, not a franchised one. I drove about 30 miles to get them installed at that shop, and for that price I didn't mind at all.

I donno about $165... that sounds very steep. I went to a small local shop. They charged me $40 for custom bend/weld axle back. But it was only for one muffler though. I know you guys have two.

$165 a muffler is ridiculous. Around my area its between $35-$50 a muffler, depending on what you want...like extending the muffler out a bit, or an extra piece of piping is needed.

Search around more...muffler shops are every where.

Our local shop charges $20 a weld. It cost me a total $60 bucks for welds and some additional piping.

KC2010 where in Houston are you located specifically that shop you mentioned? That price sounds reasonable. Can I get a discount if I mentioned your name Oh yeah, are you coming to the Houston Maxima meet on 10/25/08???

I paid $75 dollars to have my 2 Greddy Mufflers cut off and my REMUS mufflers welded on. That was for 2, so IMO that price is REDICULOUS!!!
