Hood Liner

I am 99% sure that my hoodliner is making a popping noise under the hood of my car due to bad clips. Has anyone else had this problem? I thought it was a number of things, but I've narrowed it down to this possibly. Before I took it off to make sure I was going to see if anyone else had this problem. Also, how important is this piece? As far as I'm concerned it can stay off if this is the cause of this problem.

you can take it off you'll be fine. i'v done it on most of my maximas. i'v never had it make a noise and i doubt it is mind you. but it off if you want to see if it fixes the problem. you can always put it back on.

I don't understand why they are on there anyway. All these maximas need is more weight in the front..(only 5 lbs. maybe) but still...I'll take it off tonight. I swear I'm going to go insane trying to find this awful plastic rattling sound in the front of my car.

its on there incase of an engine fire, when the engine catches fire it melts the clips and falls onto the engine;however i don't see that "genius plan" happening.

its there for noise dampening and heat insulation. you can take it off with no major effects. im sure if there was no reason for it they would have cut it out to save costs during manufacturing.

just my $0.02

-The VQ sounds amazing, so it's only inhibiting that.
-The last thing I want is more heat under the hood.
-If my engine catches on fire there is going to be so many parts damaged that I won't want to replace everything...therefore let it burn and be a complete loss.

That bish is coming off.

did you look under the car? the skid plate clips always tend to snap off and it makes a horrid rattle noise.
