I have 90k miles on my car. I invested in a new 2004 Maxima because my 1993 with over 130K miles Sentra did me good for 11 years and I was satisfied with Nissan quality so I stepped up my game. Just recently my 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gears started slipping. Some days are better then others. I was driving my car one day and suddenly it cut off. I immediately took it to a Nissan dealer and after diagnosing the problem I was advised that I needed my CamShaft replaced which cost me nearly $300. Unfortunately this did not correct the problem. In my opinion it made it worst. With this current recession, I make $26000 annually and having to pay 1/6 of my annual income on a transmission is something that I can not fathom. What is a poor, old lady to do? Is there a recall on a problem of this magnitude?

This might not be the best thread to find your solution. Probably want to check other threads or you could contact some of the administrators or senior members about this.

My 04 se Maxi is at 142,000 miles! She's still running strong and drives smooth! Just hoping the replaced transmission at 98k miles makes it another 50k at least!

I bought mine as a 90 w/163xxx on it back in summer of 09 currently have 177,786 w/a **** ton of problems! Massive oil leak around all head covers, nasty gurgling noise, exhaust putts and sporadic rough shakes accompanied w/ AT transmission slips when i don't have the shifter all the way pulled down into drive (meaning pulling it back making it feel like ur trying to put into 2)

I bought mine in 06' with 15 miles on it. Now I have 39k. Only to work & back. Short trips. having problems with the Master Cylinder & Sleeve Cylinder & I don't race it. I even had to change my Timing Chain because it was making a loud winding noise when in idle & in each gear except for reverse. Crazy. The chain was under warranty, but I gotta come out of pocket for the other stuff.

Hey guys for a 2008 i lost a couple of screws that hold in the guard on the front of the car ... any idea of the size i cant find @#$%*& anything online!

Sorry to tell you but this is the wrong thread for that. Go to the thread that most resembles your issues and I'm sure people will answer it there. But, my suggestion would be just head down to the hardware store with the screw that you do have and match it up. It'll be worth a try since buying a few screws is dirt cheap.

I just bought my 06 Maxima in April with 40K. Everything has been working great on it until the other day. My husband was driving it and the battery and emergency break lights started flashing on the dash....today the car totally lost all power. I went to advanced auto and they stated that the voltage was low on the alternator and the battery is low as well. I'm just trying to find out if its hard to replace the alternator? Is it a do it yourself kind of job?

I have the same problem with my 04 Maxima SE with 125k miles. The difference is mine would flash intermittently and when I checked the belt, it was old and worn. After I replaced the belt the light does not come on the same way it used to at all.

2003 Maxima SE with 275,000 miles with only tune up and cat converters replaced about 5,000 miles ago. Still runs strong. I like it better than my 2006 Maxima SE with 75,000 miles

2005 max with a whopping 172,000 miles. Worst problem I have had so far with it so far was the sunroof exploding randomly on the highway.
05SL,61000 and still cruising smoothly.
