Runs great!. Has the timing chain guides replaced at 245k, new transmission at 270k, new drive axles and bearings at 270k, replaced shocks at 125k. Still runs kike it is new.
Dammn!

By those calculations I can drive this for another 9 years! No thanks! But nice to have that sort of piece of mind.

Chris I have KYB shocks so pretty smooth overall. It does have its issues tho. Hard shifting at times, timing chain set / tensioner needs replaced, eats 3 qts of oil - so I do a synthetic oil change every 3k instead of 5k mi.

If you still have warranty get everything checked, especially the timing chain set/ tensioner.

132,000 miles and someone elses now, hopefully they change the belts and plugs and whatever else needs to get done underhood at that point? What did I save in getting rid of it?

I just bought 2006 Maxima SE with 94, 000 miles on it. Nissan dealer replaced transmission with a new one according to previous owner. I wonder how long normally I can expect the new transmission will last? Nissan Dealer claimed that the new transmission works as good 2012 Maxima. Is that a reliable statement?
What other problems I have to deal with down the road?

Appreciate all information you may provide in advance.

Thanks Costee! I know you have extensive experience with 6th Maxima from your post in this forum. Can you shed some light for me: How long can I expect tranny last once it is just replaced?

I wished forever! Really I can't answer that question. It is the general belief (on what evidence I don't know) that the new oem VB from Nissan is better than the original that came with ours cars. As far as this forum goes, no one who has successfully installed the new oem VB is yet to complain of some failure. The true test will be when users begin to nudge 90k miles. The use of the new oem VB is relatively recent so we may have to wait say another year or two before we begin to receive testimonies on its durability. Scrui, one of the well-known fellows in the VB saga in the org. had his installed in April last year. I don't know how many miles he's gone, but so far so good, no problems. I did mine in July, but I have only done 7k miles---and shifting remains impeccable.
Even if, as your case would seem, you had the entire tranny changed, the VB issue still applies because often times the tranny goes bad because the VB itself had long become dysfunctional.

Do you imply that it is better to just replace VB rather than replace entire tranny?

Usually the first signs of failure come from the (bad) VB. The symptoms are delayed shifts, bangs and jerks especially as the engine becomes warm. If the problem is left unaddressed, then the entire transmission might suffer damaged. The gears slip or might be lost altogether. In short, do not let matters degenerate beyond the VB.

Any engine code can show the problem of bad VB?

Yap. A Nissan TSB draws attention to P0731 through P0736, and P0780. I had P0780 in my own case.

Technical Service Bulletin. Occasionally issued by Nissan (car manufacturers in general) for the use of its dealers/mechanics on common problems.

Hi Costee, Thanks for all the information you have provide here!
I never drive manual shift before. But for my current car (2006 SE 5A), I can drive in auto mode without problem, however, when I switch to manual mode, it can only go from 1 to 2 and never up more. Unless I accelerate the car using auto mode then shift to manual, I got 5 gear sign in meter. Is this related to VB or something else? If I only intend to drive in auto mode, is this could be potential problem or early sign of bad tranny?

Because of the seeming fragile nature of our tranny, I refrain from putting it under undue strain. Of course I can drive a normal manual shift, but I don't try to use the manual mode of my AT (auto tranny). Again, your tactics of shifting from auto to manual while in motion is wrong and I think that is why it gets stuck on 5, meaning it goes into fail safe mode to prevent further damage to your tranny or engine. If you ask me I'll suggest you stop the experimentation of trying to use the manual mode until you are well acquainted with the car, or have thoroughly read and understood the car owner's manual on that driving mode. For the moment, I do not think there's anything wrong with your VB. As I said earlier bad VBs come with bangs and jerks.
