Big Three advice

I got a new battery and thought why not do the Big Three wiring. Correct me if I am wrong but are the connections from the neg battery to the frame, engine to frame and alternator to pos battery. Could I also get advice on exactly where to make the connection from the engine to frame and how did you connect it to the alternator. I see the red boot on the alternator, should I remove that completely? Pics would be great by the way!

I also read somewhere about connecting the alternator case to the engine, not sure on this one.

How do you crimp 0 guage wire to lugs?

You could look up the instructions for the grounding kit on activetuning.com. That'll get you where you need to be on placement.

I looked at the activetuning.com instructions but that is more for grounding not really the Big Three. They don't address the alternator to positive battery post.

the alt is already connected/grounded to the engine where it is bolted on. no reason to redo that part of the ground fwiw.

!!!!fuse your batt to alt!!!!

You want take off the red boot and you'll see how to attach your wire. also the general consensus is you should keep your factory fusible link instead of removing it.

good luck if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

also this would have been better posted in the audio/electronics section.

good luck!

I was planning to add a 4 gauge wire from the alternator positive directly to the battery positive with a 150 Amp fuse in between. Not sure what you ment by "keep your factory fusible link instead of removing it", could you elaborate on this so I don't do it by accident....

If you properly position the terminal you will have no problems seating the boot in to position. The terminals were crimped with a small channel lock, really nothing to it. GL!

One thing, if anyone has an answer, what is the issue with the fusible link? I read in the 6thgen forum someone threw an error code when doing the alternator to battery.

the AT kit does 2/3 of the big3, the only thing missing is the alternator + to battery +

if you get the at kit, instead of grounding out the tranny connect that extra cable from the alternator power to the + on the bat. at kit comes with 4 premade cables i believe.

also i dont see why you would get an error code. you dont need to use a fuse (tho i recommend it)

I am not sure why the guy got an error either. I was just wondering if anyone has done it and did or did not get a code.

All my wires are coming in in the next two days. I ordered 1/0 guage to ground the engine and battery and 4 guage and a 150 amp fuse to do the alternator to battery positive. Not planning to replace just add the new wires. Got new terminals too.

Could anyone provide pics of how to connect the alternator + to battery + on a 2007 Maxima? I've already grounded the engine and battery to the chasis using 4 guage grounding wire. Need help on finishing the rest in order without the car throwing a CEL.
Thanks

i followed the idea from a subie kit by linking everything back to the battery(which is essentially what we are doing, but i felt like going right to the battery would cause less resistance). i went from the valve cover to the timing cover to the intake manifold to the battery(you can see it in my pic below), if i were auto id prob go from intake manifold to trans then battery. not much difference, starts very quickly though, no power surge from subwoofer either
