Removing power steering belt

Can someone please tell me how the F**K do I remove the bolt behind the power steering? That **** is tight and I have hardly any room to swing my wrench. Is there a special tool I can use.

Deus I read your write uo and you even mention that bolt is a b!tch to remove. How did you remove it and what tool or tools did you use?

Thanks

Pretty much just get up in there with a ratchet wrench. I go in through the passenger side wheel well, it's really not that bad.

I wonder if what you are talking about is the bolt you have facing down? If that is the case you have to turn it clockwise(instead of counter-clockwise..like you normally do to loosen) to loosen the belts....But I don't know what you are talking about...LOL Left belt(don't know which is which..LOL) bolt under car turn clockwise to loosen...Right belt bolt is in engine bay turn as you would do so normally..just have loong extension to get it to fit.....LOL

What's up bro. All those bolts I got off with no problem. The one I'm talking about is behind
the power steering pump. Getting your hand back there is a bisch in the first place.

Did you ever get that bolt loose? What was your technique?

I will eventually change that belt. I'm not about to pay the stealership $180 to replace my belt

Elbow grease my man. No corrosion here. Wear mechanic gloves so if you slip you dont curse as much as I do.

drink some red bull and get all jazzed up, and just heave on it like your the hulk until the veins in your head pop out, then you should be pulling hard enough

Loosen power steering bolt on '00 maxima

I put together a couple of socket extension so it is about 2 feet long. Then I put on a swivel joint and put one wrap of tape so it only moves a little. Then add the 14 mm socket.

The access point is directly to the driver side of the center support.

I then add the ratchet, loosen bolt, detach rachet. I detach it so it is not hanging there while changing the belt - typically the tape will break when you loosen the bolt, then it swivels too much, so you don't want it to slip off.

The power steering tensioner has a side bolt (think it is 12mm) that must be loosened before you turn the bolt that lowers the power steering (lower it all the way down).

Let me know if my directions aren't clear. Good luck.

Oh darn, I just noticed I am in 6th generation, hope this applies to the "next generation".

So you are basically saying that I need to enter from the driver side?
