6.5 gen bumpers on 6 gen?

I know some people have done this...as I am told the 6.5 gen bumpers fit the 6gen exactly but my question is do I need any other hardware besides the fog light black inserts to make this a complete job? I will be buying other fog lights to put in..not spending 300$ on nissan ones.

I thought there was a lot more than just the bumper that was different.

From what i have read on this board, its front bumper, Fog light inserts that you mentioned, Headlights, Grill, hood and maybe fenders?

There was a recent thread on a member that switched from a 6gen bumper to a 6.5 front end.

Bumper alone will bolt right up except you will have a small gap by the headlights. Either do some work on the hood to fix this or get the 07 08 headlights too. Fenders DO NOT need to be changed.

yeah I heard something on the headlight gap..but didnt think that was a big deal, is it that the 6.5 gen headlights stick in a little farther on the vertical edge touching the bumper? The rear bumper I know is the same fit.

because my other choice would be to go with an aftermarket front bumper but I'm not sure about it.because my car is lowered and by bumper now has already scraped a bunch. . . :/

You just need to learn how to drive your car, it's all about the angles! My car is really low with the RLM bumper and I have scraped but I have it pretty dialed in now.

it will bolt on but nothing matches at all the lights have a good sized gap that i couldnt deal with and were the bumper meets the hood isnt the same to make this work with "class" you need the headlights and the 07 max hood otherwise it looks like garbage

I pre-fitted my 6.5 gen bumper onto my 04 and it fit perfectly... the gap is not as big as you say... it's actually a few millimeter bigger, not a significant different to shell out 300-400 for headlights and a hood. My cuz has an 08 Max and we compared the two side by side... I really didnt notice much of a difference until I kneeled down about 7 inches from each... Besides most people look at the whole car anyway... Xima is still "classy" I guess it's all in taste ya know.

i have a 6.5 bumper conversion with the hood headlights, fogs, and grille. When i just had the bumper on by itself there was horrible gap issues.... but only benefit was that it looked like my car had eyelids lol. The headlights are mostly plug in play unless you want them to work like factory. You need to change the parking lights and run the fogs down and get a H11 harness. As far as fitment. Everyone's been saying its directly bolt on which is true. With me it was alittle more involved because my car was in an accident prior to me buying it. but as it sits yesterday the car looks pretty good! once i get the rims on i'll be picture happy

I didnt see any prob with my bumper but I do wanna wait til I can get some fogs and another grille... I cant seem to find factory fogs anywhere & on Ebay it's cheap H3's but I wanna H11's. The grille I want is always sold out and I'm so sold on that one.

So alliance, for the fogs, you simply splice the fogs in the headlights to the H11 fogs in the bumper and they will run together?? There wouldnt be any problems if I wanted to turn both into HID right??

BTW... Your ride looks tight man!

I've got a brand new 07grille/6.5gen grill and wiring harness left from when I was going to got with the bumper swap. I agree, it's a great mod because the bumper looks good and there is little chance of scraping it as it doesn't sit as low as some of the aftermarket bumpers.

Here is a link to MissMiami's bumper swap FAQ thread.

This is kinda off subject, but does anyone know on the back bumper how the rear absorber is attached to the bumper? I just bought a 2007 SE and I found that the absorber (strofoam type piece) is loose and has fallen and is resting on the exhuast pipes...

Is there an easy way to fix this, or a link on how this is performed? I did not see any kind of body/frame damage, so I confident it wasn't due to an accident.

Any thoughts on this?

thanks,

STEVE

As far as I know it is not attached to the bumper cover. If it is loose you will probably have to take it apart (remover bumper cover) and reattach it. It may be a body shop job, I'm not sure.
