After market head unit

After market head unit
I have a question for those of you that have replaced the factory in-dash 6 disc changer. Mine has been skipping alot and not always reading the disc, often times it clicks and wont play at all. I would like to purchase a new head unit and I have seen some pics on here with the large screen CD player that looks like it has replaced the entire 6 disc changer and tape deck. I went on Crutchfield.com to look at a new system and a disclaimer came up that said my factory navigation would no longer work if I replaced the system. Has anyone here with factory bose and factory navigation successfully replaced the factory head unit while keeping navigation?

I know on some cars [i dont know about all] the nav computer totally takes over all of the controls, so you have to just add a second H.U. to the system..removal isn't an option..but im not 100% on how that would work.

Not here, but on one of the other forums. Can't think which one now cause I'm tired. But you will loose control over your factory navi. You can wire them both and have a aftermarket unit and the 6 disk changer still control your navi. I think it was a 6.5 generation that did it, cause I thought of doing it, and probably still will. The 6.5 Max kept it behind or underneath the nav(or info screen) sorry, will look it up tomorrow. But can be done.

Quick test is to unplug the factory cd changer from the nav computer and turn the car on. See if it gives you and headaches.
But remember you will still need to run the stock nav computer, the nav dvd player so you will have to splice all cables from the nav unit and run tap the new HU to those.
Lots of work, u can find a used cd changer on egay for
full oem radio
Then just unplug the cd changer and plug into your ride. They should be inter compatible.
