04 maxima or 03 Lincoln ls v8?

Trying to decide between the two. Also what is the 0-60 time for a stock 04 maxima with the automaitc tranny?

P.S which ever car I get needs to last at least 3 years.

i used to work on a decent amount of LS v8s and i can say that they are not well built cars, the transmissions have problems,as well as the rear ends. they also take alot more oil than a vq35de(small things). however they are a nice car to drive, and pretty quick. did alittle SEARCHING and found that a 6mt A34 beats the LS v8 to sixty by .3(based on some reviews of the vehicles,so the auto is prob 3 or 4 tenths slower than a 6mt. i wouldnt base my decision on that either, the max is just a much better car. GET THE MAX lol

Put it this way, You dont want a v8 in the summer when fuel prices go up. I leave the maxima at home then and drive my 4 cylinder then, imagine how you will be in a v8.

One plus about the LS, rear wheel drive and apparently it outhandles the BMW 540i from its generation. I say testdrive both.

Either way though IMO you aren't going wrong.

that isn't a good question to ask us on here if you are looking for an unbiased answer....

but even from an unbiased point of view, the nissan is a better car. my dad was looking at getting rid of his 04 maxi and we drove an 05 mkz with the 4.6 v8. sure, it had an okay top end, but the transmission was sluggish, the brakes sucked, and it was lacking the sporty build of a nissan. maxima all the way.

I almost bought the 3.0L LS before my MAX! I test drove it and the car was very smooth but low on power. Handles well too. The interior is ok but had plenty of toys! Heated and Cooled seats and all the climate controls are on the steering wheel too. I didnt put a deposit down, came back the next day and it was sold. But when I tested the max it was faster in the straights than all the other cars I had tested and very roomy and comfortable. (TL, Avalon, LS, Azera, Deville, CTS)

The LS handles slightly better and didnt have the outrageous turning radius. They both have cheap dash materials and somewhat flimsy buttons/controls lol.

As for problems and maintainance. I find any american car is usually cheaper to maintain than jap (especially nissan) and easier to find parts.

The LS V8 should be as quick as the max, has slightly more luxury features, handles better, but it looks like a drug dealer car lol.

The max is more versatile. Can be sporty and luxurious. Can be driven in most weather and is better on gas and does not REQUIRE premium.

If it was me, it would come down to 1.price 2.mileage 3.carfax 4.drive feel
(i put driving feel last cuz i know they both are good cars!)

*sorry for rambling! and GL

The Ls went extinct for a reason they had huge realiablity issues the ls looks better than a 6thgen IMO but besides that a Max has it beat. also the Ls is not as fast as you think and there resale value is trash!! Check the link:

Suspension is a bit stiffer on the SE, and different packages/options. Also for the 04 the SL came with the 4sp tranny (which I regretfully have...FTL) But I think that's it...

And...

...get the Maxima!

But be sure to check for any accidents, check for the "shimmy", and see if all/any of the recalls/TSB's have been performed on the car.

To quote Blackness Monsta...., "The max is more versatile. Can be sporty and luxurious. Can be driven in most weather and is better on gas and does not REQUIRE premium."

Do we need to say more?

I really liked the LS, liked the look can easly be a VIP style car is done right and the little v8 that it does have get better mpg than the max does on the hwy and will handle better. However I talked to a guy who used to deal used cars and said DO NOT buy that car. It has to many sensors and will always though codes, he said yeah they are nice when new, but thats it. I Test drove one before the max. Rode great comfy as hell liked all the do-dads. Not 3 minutes into the drive the CEL comes one and the car begins over heating and reducing engine power. I turned back around from my 5 min test drive flooring the car to get it into the lot at a crawl. The car only had 78K. It was a nice looking POS.

If I had the cash for a 04 max I'd prolly give an Acura product a look too. But Im just not to crazy about the 6gen looks.

if you come to a maxima forum you are obviously going to get a biased opinion. but either way don't buy the LS i have worked on several of them in the shop i work at. one came in the other day for exhaust knocking and it was beacause the muffler hangers are mounted to the rear crash bar and it was rotted away on i belive an 04. power steering leaks tranny leaks. try putting plugs and wires in one with out saying "why do they make it so complicated and cramped for no reason."

Parts are cheaper to buy for an american car, but you will be buying them more often. Yes, it costs a bit more to maintain a Jap car, but it will spend much less time on jack stands or in a shop.

Never had one four door or two door vehicle pull away from me on the highway. I'm shocked everytime. Had a EVO go crazy because I stayed on his side in 4th gear, 5th gear would have put him down. Lincoln ls won't do **** to my Max.
