QUESTION!

WHY do both o2's from the manifolds have to be extended behind the cat if only ONE was AFTER the pre-cat? The other sensor wouldn't know the difference since it was before the precat anyways, so why does it have to be extended?

4 sensors total... 2 pre-cat and 2 before the stock y-pipe. With the removal of the cats in the headers, both rear sensors need to be extended.

Oolatec, I understand completely that the green and blue colored
o2 sensor/wires need to be extended. But it looks like that isn't
necessary if you go the o2 Sims route. What's your opinion on
the o2 Sims? It really looks like great alternative to extending
wires so far back.

Yeah... with a dual channel sim, you should be fine. I'm still working on getting mine functioning correctly. I think my first sim is bad... just haven't had the time to bring it to my guy so he can try the other one. But members have had success, so it does work.

Is is best to clean the EGR valve or just replace it when doing the headers? I'm wondering if doing so would clear the EGR code.

I would recommend inspecting the part to begin with.
My mechanic suggested that I take the EGR valve apart
and thoroughly clean it first. Once it's taken apart you really
get an idea if it's shot or not. If you notice below the most
important part is the steel or metal with the spring on top.
That has to open and close so that it efficiently and completely
burn fuel by recirculating a portion of your exhaust and running
it through the combustion process again. Bad pre-cat particles
can jam it up pretty bad.

is a tune necessary after headers?? I'm getting ready to install my hot shot headers this sat. and was wondering if a tune or re-flash needed? will my a/f ratio be safe?

Only necessary to get rid of any check engine lights you may get (not everyone has apparently), and to take full advantage of the performance gains.

I had mine installed last year, and have been driving around with my CEL since, and no problems. But a tune will be necessary in the near future so I can pass emissions.

ditto...

most of time they will run rich after installing Hotshot Headers so it would be wise to get a air fuel controller and tune it...the o2 sensors might break down more easily if run like that for a long time but you should be ok for a while...

I passed emissions without tuning so should be ok as long as the car is running fine and the code is cleared but tuning would be the best option..

Looking real good man. But doesn't it cause your car to fail emissions??? I might be wrong but I think there's three catalytic converters on the 6thgens and the aftermarket headers and y-pipe doesn't come with it,right???

Cattman makes two different y-pipes one with catalytic in it and one without.

I called cattman and they y-pipes are pretty pricey shipped to Canada and he also said that I'd have to wait until they get about 10-12 orders before they produce a batch.

I mean i'm all down for the performance but buying a regular y-pipe for $500-600 then brokerage for 5-10hp just ain't worth it. I prefer to get the light wight fly wheel or the stage 1 clutch because the y-pipe without the catalytic converter will just cause my car to fail emissions and I don't intend to go through the hassle of buying it

Yeah. I mean the 6thgens are really good on emissions and if I remove them and install the aftermarket headers it will definitely fail.

I wanted the cattman y-pipe because of the catalytic converter. Racingline deosn't offer one with it. When I installed my catback the installer said the car might still pass without the y-pipe catalytic conver because there's two others.

He said the only thing I might have to worry about is there might be a change in sound. I probably might just go with the racingline y-pipe

A car with the (2) OEM precats or Racingline HFPC will still pass ALL emissions testing with a catless Ypipe. The only way you'll fail emissions with just a Ypipe is if your car has no precats

Depends on the Type of Cat and how hot it is. But generally speaking it "should" pass most tests
