Why not just tap into the power from the overhead light console?

it's not the power I am wanting to tap into that's the issue. I want to take the front off the mirror and gut it out and do my magic to it. When I get it apart I will do some amazing work that in theory will work and turn out awesome. I have two shops waiting on me to get it apart. One for plexiglass cutting and the other for mirror tinting.

Well I agree that Radars job is to warn you to slow down and the speeding is dangerous for you. But still we need to speed up.

Study shown that speeding can release the brain from work stress. don't you its correct.

Man there are 5 Radars on a circle of 5KM

Where can I buy such a stuff? and how much will cost me ?

I don't know where to hide the device, but I can tell you it is illegal to use one in Canada. I do not know where you are from, but if you are from Canada then read this.

This is wording straight out of the "Highway Traffic Act"

Speed measuring warning devices

79. (1) In this section,
“speed measuring warning device” means any device or equipment designed or intended for use in a motor vehicle to warn the driver of the presence of speed measuring equipment in the vicinity and includes any device or equipment designed or intended for use in a motor vehicle to interfere with the effective operation of speed measuring equipment. 1996, c. 33, s. 12.

Speed measuring warning device prohibited

(2) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle that is equipped with or that carries or contains a speed measuring warning device. 1996, c. 33, s. 12.
Powers of police officer

(3) A police officer may at any time, without a warrant, stop, enter and search a motor vehicle that he or she has reasonable grounds to believe is equipped with or carries or contains a speed measuring warning device contrary to subsection (2) and may seize and take away any speed measuring warning device found in or upon the motor vehicle. 1996, c. 33, s. 12.

Forfeiture of device

(4) Where a person is convicted of an offence under this section, any device seized under subsection (3) by means of which the offence was committed is forfeited to the Crown. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 79 (4).
Penalty

(5) Every person who contravenes subsection (2) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $1,000. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 79 (5).
Be very careful!

Ancient thread but might has well post my update.

Had mine hard wired (no more cord hanging down) still using my same mount that attaches to the rear view mirror.

If radar detectors are illegal where you live either don't get one or use a remote mounted detector such as the Beltronics STI-R. You have to pay to play.

If you are insistent on using the STI, mount it up high to the left or right of the rear view mirror and hard wire that thing!

Apollos has the cleanest windshield / rear-view mirror set up I've seen. When I get my next one (my x50 fell off the windshield one too many times), I'm emulating his.

Thanks Timpol, I gotta dig up the info on this rear view mirror mount. Never falls off. (I lost a few detectors do to suction cups failing).

I don't have really good pics of it, but you can see it here.

hey guys, to answer the original posters ?,

i have a 4th gen and i mounted my radar detector in my 3rd brake light, so i could run the wire neatly and plumb, also cause it's a cobra and the front sensor is red, it blends in, so this plus a couple high output red led's did the trick for me

now i'm guessing on the 6th gen, you guys have a diff. 3 brake light housing, maybe it could still be done?

Sorry I paid the price of ignorance and had my stereo shop install mine. One of the best investments I've made.

Not a Blendmount, but similar.
