"Black Pearl" Style Emblems

I don't know if any of you have done this, but I'm probably going to do it as it goes well with the theme. Just wanted to throw some information out there that i picked up at the club lexus forum for anyone else that wants to do it. This is just one way I found.

That seems like a cool idea. Since my Max is Pearl White that would look great... are you simply painting the Nissan logo emblems or all the them emblems on your max?

Very nice, I have been wanting to do this or buy the ones they sell (but they are like $70) Are you going to take them off the car or just mask them off well?
Hmm, off to the hobby shop?

Most likely take them off, and use some adhesive to put them back on. 3m tape?? I'm unsure about what to do with the Nissan hamburger though. I'll probably just spray it lightly to make sure the "Nissan" is still visible.

I painted my Hamburger "gunmetal" grey...if u paint the whole thing black u wont be able to read NISSAN unless u go rite up to it...also be careful if it has any scratches or bubbles they will show terribly once painted...maybe taking the "chrome" layer off with a razor or sumthing would work better

Ah, Thanks for the tips. I'll have to watch out. I don't really care about being able to read the Nissan. I just want it to look good.

I had a little project today....took off the crome via sandpaper, painted flat black and then clearcoat to protect ($11)
that paint still steems like a pretty good idea....next idea is to tint the tail lights

I'd take the badges off completely, and get the black LED tails... that'd look hot..

just went to walmart in the harware section next to all the tapes/glue
Found the 3M tape (grey double sided adhesive tape that has a red cover paper tape that peels off)

the red paper is how i always spot it. buts its only $3 and you just cut to fit the letters....

Oolatec
which black leds are you talking about?

Not, that you're asking me, but i found some stuff at advance auto before that is made for badges and trim pieces that worked pretty good. I'm sure they should have something like that where you are.

Many people use the double sided 3M tape. It is gray on one side and red on the other.

Huh? Would you even see it? What happened to the badgeless and smooth look? Are we jumping off that bandwagon and sayin' that badges are in vogue again?

The black pearl will only look good on a white car IMO

I still want them visible and black pearl is the best way to accomplish that.

I think it would look good. Just make sure to do the light even coats to not go too dark.
