Stock head unit replace

After long thought i and a trip to nissan, ive accepted the fact that my HU is approaching its end.. And at this point i have 3 options..

1. Pay Nissan $2k to totally replace the stock HU (never will that happen)
2. Try & piece together a the stock NAVI and replace my BASIC stereo HU
3. Just go aftermarket

Now that ive arrived here my prob is that i want to go ahead and install an in-dash navigation system whether it be the stock or aftermarket. Im not sure how its gonna work or what will become of the lcd screen or if i can even keep my 6 disc changer.. Im jus lost

Has anyone here done this or have any suggestions b/c i dont even knw where to start but the stereo is getting on my last nerve.. Please post links w/ pics if u can thatll help GREATLY. refer to this link for the story

If you have bose and want to replace your Head Unit then you need to replace your speakers and amp as well. I recommend taking this to the audio section for some more specific help.

$2k ???? Are you serious? Is that what they quoted you? Got mine replaced for free. But yeah go get a new aftermarket deck, amp and speakers for about half that with installation.

Good Luck.

WRONG. You can very easily install an aftermarket HU and retain your Bose speakers.

Yeah gimmie a break ! Bose doesn't even make that cheesy changer and the tape player with the Bose label sounds better.

The LCD screen will stay where it is and work fine (unless you move it down like a lot of us have) 6 disc (made by Clarion FTR) has to go if you put in a new HU.

So yes a lot of us have done it, go aftermarket, you will be much happier! And po8pimp be careful with statement that are not true/correct you can confuse people on these boards!!! I ran my stock speakers for a few years with my NAVI HU...
