gas mileage
i seem to be getting very bad gas mileage according to my car computer i am getting 12 to 14 miles per a gallon any one know what can be wrong as to why the gas mileage is so poor thanks
You should check out this linked thread. I did the seafoam just in the intake and around town I went from about 16-17 to almost 20 mpgs. It's well worth a shot if you're looking to get some efficiency from the motor, and it's very simple to do.

you sure its reading "MPG" not "L/100Km"? hit that "E/M" button and you should know
12 -14 L /100KM is what i get in the city alone.. that translates to roughly 18-20 MPG.
Like mentioned, check your air filter, if its dirty change it. I just changed mine this week to a K&N drop in and I noticed a huge improvement on fuel economy. I don't know if the K&N did any major difference from a regular paper filter but definitely will from a dirty air filter.

If you are not certain about the reading from your computer, you should do a manual check of gas mileage. You should also reset the computer mpg reading from time to time. I reset mine with each fill up of gasoline. Simply hold down the button until the computer resets.
For those who (with computers) have forgotten, here are the steps to do a manual gas mileage calculation:
- Fill you tank and set the trip odometer to 0.0 miles.
- After driving for at least 1/4 of a tank (or more), refill the tank and record the gallons you have used.
- Lets say that you have driven 120.8 miles and have used 6.25 gallons of gasoline. 120.8/6.25 = 19.3 miles per gallon.
The most difficult part of this operation is filling the gas tank consistently from one fill up to another. Probably the most accurate way to do this is to go to the same fuel pump at the same station, set the automatic fill rate on the nozzel to the same speed and when the auto-shut-off cuts off the flow, assume that the tank has been filled to the same level each time.
I have found that my computer gives fairly accurate readings on gas mileage, so, while I keep the manual records, I rarely do the calculation -- assume that the computer is close enough. Around town here at 6 K feet above sea level and burning only regular gasoline (85 octane), I get from 21 to 23 mpg.
On the highway (65-70 mph), I get from 27 to 28 mpg (and burn 87 octane regular when not at higher elevations).
